The electoral district of Niddrie is a metropolitan electorate approximately northwest of Melbourne, Australia in Victoria's Legislative Assembly. The Niddrie District covers an area of , including the suburbs of Aberfeldie, Airport West, Avondale Heights, Essendon West, Keilor, Keilor East, Keilor Park and Niddrie and parts of the suburbs of Essendon and Taylors Lakes. The district boundaries include Sharps Road for part of the north, Tullamarine Freeway and Roberts Street for parts of the east, Maribyrnong River in the south, and Sunshine Avenue for part of the west. Niddrie, Victoria
Niddrie is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Moonee Valley local government area. Niddrie recorded a population of 5,901 at the 2021 census. Niddrie is bounded by the Calder Freeway to the north, Steele Creek to the west, Hoffmans Road to the east and Rosehill Road to the south. History Niddrie and the banks of the Maribyrnong River were originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri clan of the Kulin nation. Between 1843 and 1851, the Scottish settler, Thomas Napier (1802–1881) purchased the Keilor Road land covering Niddrie and Airport West. In 1869, Napier sold this land to Henry Stevenson (1810–1893). By 1871, Stevenson had built a house he named ''Niddrie'', after his birthplace of Niddrie, a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland. Rob Justin Hulls (born 23 January 1957) is a former Australian politician who was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2012, representing the electorate of Niddrie. Robert Charles Grant Sercombe (3 April 1949 – 12 January 2025) was an Australian politician who represented the Division of Maribyrnong, Victoria for the Australian Labor Party from March 1996 until his retirement at the 2007 federal election. John Hamilton "Jack" Simpson (8 February 1929 – 19 May 2015) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Essendon, Victoria, Essendon to furniture retailer William Simpson and his wife Helen. He attended state schools and worked as a rouseabout at shearing sheds from 1944 to 1947 and then as a French polisher from 1948 to 1955. From 1955 to 1976 he managed the family furniture business at Moonee Ponds. He married Joyce Mavis Laurence on 22 February 1958; they had four daughters. The Maribyrnong River is a perennial river of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the northwestern suburbs of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria. Course The Maribyrnong River draws its headwaters from near Mount Macedon within the Macedon Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range. The Tullamarine Freeway (commonly referred to as The Tulla), is a major urban freeway in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, linking Melbourne Airport to the Melbourne City Centre. It carries up to 210,000 vehicles per day and is one of Australia's busiest freeways.
