This is a soothing, stroking movement used at the beginning and the end of the facial and/or body massage. It is also used as a linking move between the different strokes and movements. is basically a form of massage involving a circular stroking movement made with the palm of the hand. can be firm or light without dragging the skin, and is performed using either the padded parts of the finger tips or the palmar surface of the hands. Petrissage
(French, from 'to knead') is a massage technique that applies deep pressure to the underlying muscles. Kneading, wringing, skin rolling, and pick-up-and-squeeze are the movements. They are all performed with the padded palmar surface of the hand, the surface of the finger and also the thumbs. During kneading, the hands should be moulded to the area and the movements should be slow and rhythmical, with the tissue between the hands as the focus of the work. Knuckling is another form of kneading but using the knuckles to knead and lift in circular and upwards motions. Scissoring is another movement that is performed only over a flat area with very little pressure. The index and middle fingers of both hands are only used for this movement. They are placed opposite each other and then are slowly worked towards each other lifting and releasing as they go. It is also a term used in French professional bread baking describing a particular stage during dough development. See a ...

Muscle
Muscle is a soft tissue, one of the four basic types of animal tissue. There are three types of muscle tissue in vertebrates: skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle. Muscle tissue gives skeletal muscles the ability to muscle contraction, contract. Muscle tissue contains special Muscle contraction, contractile proteins called actin and myosin which interact to cause movement. Among many other muscle proteins, present are two regulatory proteins, troponin and tropomyosin. Muscle is formed during embryonic development, in a process known as myogenesis. Skeletal muscle tissue is striated consisting of elongated, multinucleate muscle cells called muscle fibers, and is responsible for movements of the body. Other tissues in skeletal muscle include tendons and perimysium. Smooth and cardiac muscle contract involuntarily, without conscious intervention. These muscle types may be activated both through the interaction of the central nervous system as well as by innervation ...

Gua Sha
''Gua sha'' (Chinese: 刮痧), also known as ''kerokan'' in Indonesia or ''cạo gió'' in Vietnam, is a traditional East Asian medicine practice involving the use of a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin, producing light petechiae (small red or purple spots caused by minor capillary bleeding). Practitioners believe that this technique releases stagnation or "unhealthy" elements from the body, particularly from areas of muscle soreness, stiffness, or injury, promoting blood flow and healing. Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), ''gua sha'' has been used for centuries across East and Southeast Asia and has gained global attention in modern times, though it remains classified as a pseudoscience due to a lack of scientific evidence supporting its efficacy. The practice is known by various names in English, such as "scraping therapy," "spooning," or "coining," and in French as ''tribo- effleurage'' (friction-stroking). While it is widely practiced for pain relief, relaxat ...
