In computing, ‘’‘eSATAp’’’ (also known as ‘’‘Power over eSATA’’’, ‘’‘Power eSATA’’’, ‘’‘eSATA-USB‘’‘, ‘’‘eSATA/USB Combo’’’, or ‘’‘eSATA USB Hybrid Port’’’/’’‘EUHP’’’) is a combination connection for external storage devices. This type of port allows for either an eSATA or USB device to be connected. SATA (Serial AT Attachment) is a computer bus interface that connects host bus adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drives, optical drives, and solid-state drives. Serial ATA succeeded the earlier Parallel ATA (PATA) standard to become the predominant interface for storage devices. Hot swapping is the replacement or addition of components to a computer system without stopping, shutting down, or rebooting the system. Hot plugging describes only the addition of components to a running computer system. Components which have such functionality are said to be ''hot-swappable'' or ''hot-pluggable''; likewise, components which do not are ''cold-swappable'' or ''cold-pluggable''.
