Doce De Leite
Doce was a Portugal, Portuguese female band from the 1980s. It was one of the first girl bands in Europe. The girls took part in the Portuguese national final in order to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song "Doce" ("Sweet"), but came second, and in Eurovision Song Contest 1981, 1981 with the song "Ali-Bábá, um homem das Arábias" ("Ali Baba, a man of the Arabias"), reaching 4th place in the national final. One year later, they won with "Bem bom" ("Very good") and went on the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 to reach the 13th position. There is also an English version of this song, called "Bim Bom", as well as a Spanish version, called "Bingo". Portugal was represented by Armando Gama, with the song "Esta balada que te dou", at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Munich on 23 April. Gama was the winner of the Portuguese national final for the contest, held on 5 March. The song was chosen through a national final organised by broadcaster RTP. Before Eurovision Festival da Canção 1983 The national final was held at the Coliseu in Porto in Porto, hosted by Valentina Torres and Eládio Clímaco. Armando Gama
Armando António Capelo Diniz da Gama (1 April 1954 – 17 January 2022) was a Portuguese singer-songwriter and baritone opera singer, whose physical trademark for decades was his shoulder-length jet black hair. Life and career Gama grew up in Portuguese Angola, an overseas territory of Portugal by then, and lived there until the age of 17. Upon moving to mainland Portugal in 1971, he scored the first of many No. 1 hits on the Portuguese music charts. He was well-versed in performing piano and solfège, having studied them at the music conservatory in Luanda until he was a teenager. In his decades-long music career, he sold over five million records in Portugal alone. Carlos Manuel de Marques Paião (1 November 1957 - 26 August 1988) was a singer and songwriter from Portugal. He represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the song " Playback". Carlos Paião was also a doctor, having graduated in medicine in 1983, but his great passion was music. Some of his songs became national hits. In August 1988, Carlos Paião died in a car accident on N1 Road (old Lisbon-Porto road) in Ponte Amieira, near Rio Maior, Santarém district, while returning from a concert. Pedro Manuel Mamede Passos Coelho (; born 24 July 1964) is a Portuguese politician and university guest lecturer who was the 118th prime minister of Portugal, in office from 2011 to 2015. The Eurovision Song Contest 1982 was the 27th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Harrogate, United Kingdom, following the country's victory at the with the song "Making Your Mind Up" by Bucks Fizz. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the contest was held at the Harrogate International Centre on 24 April 1982 and was hosted by English TV presenter and newsreader Jan Leeming.
