Cream Soda
Cream soda (also known as creme soda) is a sweet soft drink. Generally flavored with vanilla and based on the taste of an ice cream float, a wide range of variations can be found worldwide. History and development A recipe for cream soda written by E. M. Sheldon and published in ''Michigan Farmer'' in 1852 called for water, cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate), Epsom salts, sugar, egg, and milk to be mixed, then heated, then mixed again once cooled with water and a quarter teaspoonful of baking soda to make an Effervescence, effervescent drink. It was suggested as a Temperance movement, temperance drink preferable to Wine, those of "Uncle Bacchus" and in compliance with the recently introduced Maine law. An alternative recipe can be found combining a soda of choice as well as whipped cream. Alexander C. Howell of Vienna, New Jersey, was granted a patent for "cream soda-water" on June 27, 1865. Howell's cream soda-water was made with sodium bicarbonate, water, sugar, egg whites, ...

Craft Soda
Craft soda is a soft drink that is produced in small quantities from natural ingredients. Craft soda is in most cases made with sweeteners other than sucrose (sugar) or high-fructose corn syrup and contains sparing amounts of preservatives. Craft soda is often innovative in terms of raw materials and flavors. Some of the literature adds that craft soda producers need to be authentic and small, or even local market only, and independent of major soft drink companies. Still, those big companies are trying to capitalize on the popularity of these types of drinks with craft soda-like products. Craft soda is a certain trend in the U.S., with a market share of 1% in 2015, but in 2018 it also became noticeable in the Netherlands and Belgium. An American market researcher estimated the world market value for craft soda in 2016 at USD 537.9 million and expected sales in this segment to increase sharply. Small quantities Craft soda is typically associated with small quantities that are so ...

Canfield's
The A.J. Canfield Company was a Chicago-based independent producer of carbonated beverages founded in 1924. The company was known during its later years for marketing unusual flavors, including Canfield's Diet Chocolate Fudge; it was sold by the Canfield family in 1995 to Select Beverages. History The company was started in 1924, at 67th Street and South Chicago Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, by Arthur J. Canfield, a former railroad worker. Canfield's was unique during much of its early history in the marketing approach of using quart glass bottles of a unique design that could be returned only to the Canfield's bottling plant, whereas almost all regional bottlers at the time used generic quart glass bottles with removable paper labels that could be returned to any bottling plant. The company then promoted its beverages and bottles to be of higher quality than other Chicago area soft drink makers. This plan produced mixed results, as some retailers declined to carry Canfield's p ...

Etymology The "Dry" in the brand's name refers to not being sweet, as in a dry wine. When John J. McLaughlin originally made his new soft drink, "Canada Dry Pale Ginger Ale", it was far less sweet than other ginger ales then available; as a result, he labelled it "dry". History In 1890, Canadian pharmacist and chemist John J. McLaughlin of Enniskillen, Ontario, after working in a soda factory i ...
