Canton Of Grandrieu
The Cantons of France, canton of Grandrieu is an administrative division of the Lozère departments of France, department, southern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Grandrieu. Cantons Of France
The cantons of France () are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as Constituency, constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments (Departmental council (France), departmental councils, formerly general councils). For this reason, such elections were known in France as "cantonal elections", until 2015 when their name was changed to "departmental elections" to match the departmental councils' name. Chaudeyrac
Chaudeyrac (; ) is a commune in the Lozère department in southern France. The small villages of Fouzillic and Fouzillac, 300 m from each other, are located on the territory of the commune. The villages are mentioned by Robert Louis Stevenson in ''Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes''. He was there on September 24–25, 1878, while on his way to Cheylard-l'Évêque. He refers to the villages as "Fouzilhic" and "Fouzilhac". Laubert
Laubert (; ) is a commune in the Lozère department in southern France. Inhabitants of Laubert are called ''Laubertois'' in French. Geography Laubert is on the RN88, north of Mende and south of Le Puy-en-Velay. History The church A chapel was founded in 1278, which was destroyed 1636, and rebuilt in 1773. The chapel was replaced by the present church in 1825. The church tower is "en peigne". The commune's council refounded the main bell in 1963, because it was cracked. A little fountain at the base of the church adds to the village's charm. In it are: * a 15th-century Christ in multicoloured wood, * a virgin and child from the seventeenth century in gilded wood, * an Atlas supporting the pulpit (there are three other Atlases of this type in Lozère), * a gilded and painted retable, with turned columns, which came from the Capuchin church at Mende, topped with two urns. Châteauneuf-de-Randon
Châteauneuf-de-Randon (; ) is a village and commune in the Lozère department in southern France. History The battle of Châteauneuf-de-Randon was fought in 1380 between the English and the French. In 1380 the fortress of Châteauneuf-de-Randon was besieged by the French, under the command of Bertrand du Guesclin, and the fortress was defended by an English garrison under De Ros. The town surrendered on the 4th of July. The siege, however, was fatal to the French commander. Geography The Chapeauroux forms part of the commune's western border, flows eastward through the middle of the commune, then forms part of its eastern border.
