Bubblegrunge
Bubblegrunge is a fusion microgenre that combines elements of grunge and pop music. Practitioners of the style include Soccer Mommy, Mannequin Pussy, Slow Pulp and Ovlov. Characteristics Bubblegrunge fuses the catchy, upbeat melodies of bubblegum pop with the distorted guitars, heavy drums and raw, emotional vocals of grunge. It often features confessional, introspective lyrics on love, heartbreak and self‑discovery, wrapped in a nostalgic, slightly melancholy edge. Sophia Regina Allison (born May 27, 1997), better known by her stage name Soccer Mommy, is an American singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. She has four studio albums to her name; her latest album, ''Evergreen'', was released on October 25, 2024. Early life and education Born in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1997 to Michelle (an elementary school teacher) and John Allison (a neuroscientist), Sophie Allison grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where her parents had moved the family when she was a toddler. She attended Nashville School of the Arts, a specialty high school where she studied guitar and participated in the school's swing band. Mannequin Pussy is an American punk rock, punk and indie rock band from Philadelphia, formed in 2010. The band currently consists of Marisa "Missy" Dabice (vocals, guitar), Kaleen Reading (drums), Colins "Bear" Regisford (bass, vocals) and Maxine Steen (guitar). Slow Pulp
Slow Pulp is an American indie rock band from Madison, Wisconsin, currently based in Chicago, Illinois. History Slow Pulp began after childhood friends Teddy Mathews, Alex Leeds, and Henry Stoehr decided to start a band. This resulted in their first release, an extended play (EP) titled ''EP1'' in 2015. In 2017, they released a second EP titled ''EP2'', which was the first release to feature new member Emily Massey. In 2019, the group released another EP titled ''Big Day''. The group was midway through recording its debut studio album, '' Moveys'', when the COVID-19 pandemic hit; it was recorded remotely and released on October 9, 2020. Ovlov
Ovlov is an American alternative rock band from Newtown, Connecticut. History Ovlov began in 2009, choosing a band name that is an inversion of the Swedish car brand, Volvo. That same year, they released an EP titled ''Crazy Motorcycle Jump''. They followed that up with another EP in 2011 titled ''What's So Great About The City''.
