Blotto was a restaurant on Seattle's Capitol Hill, in the U.S. state of Washington. Cal Hoffmann and Jordan Koplowitz established the pizzeria as a pop-up in 2020, before relocating to a brick and mortar space in 2021. Despite garnering a positive reception, Blotto closed in December 2023. Description Blotto was a pizzeria and corner market that operated in an approximately 120-year-old house at the intersection of 12th Avenue and East Denny Way on Seattle's Capitol Hill. The restaurant served New York-style pies, including cheese, pepperoni, and seasonal varieties. The menu also included a Caesar salad and a Mah Zeh burnt potato side. Blotto stocked artisinal food products and wine. History Blotto started as a pop-up in Broadway Alley in 2020, before moving into a brick and mortar space in June 2021. Blotto (band)
Blotto was an American rock band from Albany, New York, known for mixing music and humor. They formed in 1978 from the Star Spangled Washboard Band, a comedy jug band whom ''The New York Times'' described as "reminiscent of collision between the Earl Scruggs Review and the Three Stooges." Blotto's music combined new wave and soul/ R&B with comedic themes. History The band began as a pickup group in Saratoga Springs at a club then known as 17 Maple Ave. (later The Metro), with three Washboard Band alumni (who took the stage names Bowtie Blotto, Sergeant Blotto, and Broadway Blotto), plus a drummer and a bassist (Lee Harvey Blotto, and Cheese Blotto). They were joined by Blanche Blotto, who contributed vocals and keyboards and inspired the band's drumhead lady logo. ''Blotto'' is a 1930 American pre-Code comedy film directed by James Parrott and starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The short was produced by Hal Roach and originally distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Plot During the Prohibition era, Laurel and Hardy plan an evening at the Rainbow Club, a lively venue. Stan, eager to escape his nagging wife, agrees to a scheme devised by Ollie to feign a business-related absence. However, their telephone conversation is overheard by Stan's wife, prompting her to enact her own plan. Unbeknownst to Stan and Ollie, Mrs. Laurel replaces the hidden liquor in their home with tea spiked with various spices. In biology, BLOTTO is a blocking reagent made from nonfat dry milk, phosphate buffered saline, and sodium azide. Its name is an almost-acronym of bovine lacto transfer technique optimizer. It constitutes an inexpensive source of nonspecific protein (milk casein) which blocks protein binding sites in a variety of experimental paradigms, notably Southern blots, Western blots, and ELISA.
