Alain Silver is a US film producer, director, and screenwriter; music producer; film critic, film historian, DVD commentator, author and editor of books and essays on film topics, especially film noir, the samurai film, and horror films. Filmmakers about whom he has written include David Lean, Robert Aldrich, Raymond Chandler, Roger Corman, and James Wong Howe. Career Education Silver graduated from UCLA with degrees in film production (B.A.) and critical studies (M.A. and PhD). ''Prime Suspect'' is a 1989 American thriller directed by Bruce Kimmel (using the pseudonym Mark Rutland, as he was brought in after the original director (Thomas Constantinides) proved unequal to the task) and produced by Alain Silver and Patrick Regan. Bruce Kimmel also composed the underscore. The film stars Don Blakely, Tom Bresnahan and Ann Dane. Only 15 to 20 minutes of this 90 minute film remain of Constantinides' work. Kimmel was brought in on one day's notice and finished the film as a favor to his friends Alain Silver and Patrick Regan, with whom he had worked many times. The script was by Constantinides. The resulting film wasn't exactly poorly received, as it went straight to home video and no reviews of it seem to exist. ''Mortuary Academy'' is a 1988 American comedy film starring Christopher Atkins and Perry Lang. The film was released on DVD in full screen with no extras in 2005. Plot summary Sam (Christopher Atkins) and Max Grimm (Perry Lang) inherit the Grimm Mortuary and Academy from their uncle, but in order to obtain it, they must graduate from the mortician's course.
