Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are proteins or lipids that become glycated as a result of exposure to sugars. They are a bio-marker implicated in aging and the development, or worsening, of many degenerative diseases, such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, and Alzheimer's disease. Dietary sources Animal-derived foods that are high in fat and protein are generally AGE-rich and are prone to further AGE formation during cooking. However, only low molecular weight AGEs are absorbed through diet, and vegetarians have been found to have higher concentrations of overall AGEs compared to non-vegetarians. Therefore, it is unclear whether dietary AGEs contribute to disease and aging, or whether only endogenous AGEs (those produced in the body) matter. Ages, Kentucky
Ages is an unincorporated coal town and census-designated place (CDP) in Harlan County, Kentucky, United States. History A post office called "Ages" was established in 1892, and the post office removed to Brookside, Kentucky and its name changed to "Ages-Brookside" in 1975. The community takes its name from nearby Ages Creek. The community was listed by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place in 2014. Population estimated at 439 in the 2017 US Census American Community Survey. Geography Ages is located in central Harlan County in the valley of the Clover Fork of the Cumberland River. It is bordered to the west by Brookside and to the east by Verda, both unincorporated. The Clover Fork valley lies between Black Mountain to the north and Little Black Mountain to the south. Ages (album)
''Ages'' is Tangerine Dream leader Edgar Froese's fourth studio album, released in 1978. Originally a double LP, it was reissued by Virgin Records in 1997 on one CD, with the closing track "Golgatha and the Circle Closes" missing. Froese has since remixed the album and released it on his own Eastgate label in 2005. This version also omitted a track, but not the same one as before, and another song, "Metropolis", was shortened. The album was recorded in Autumn 1977 at Amber Studios in Berlin. The drums and percussion were played by Klaus Krüger (aka Klaus Krieger) who was in Tangerine Dream at the time. Some parts of songs on the album were later reused on Tangerine Dream's albums, most notably "Nights of Automatic Women", which is very similar to "Madrigal Meridian" from Cyclone. Before the album was released, "Ode to Granny A" was released in an abridged form as the b-side to Tangerine Dream's live single "Encore", under the title "Hobo March". The geologic time scale, or geological time scale, (GTS) is a representation of time based on the rock record of Earth. It is a system of chronological dating that uses chronostratigraphy (the process of relating strata to time) and geochronology (scientific branch of geology that aims to determine the age of rocks). It is used primarily by Earth scientists (including geologists, paleontologists, geophysicists, geochemists, and paleoclimatologists) to describe the timing and relationships of events in geologic history. Arnold Ages
Arnold Ages (17 May 1935 – 9 October 2020) was a Canadian-born scholar, author, editor and journalist. As an academic, he published 90 scholarly articles and books between 1956 and 2001, not limited to his specialty of French Enlightenment literature; as a journalist, his newspaper publications spanned over five decades and included book reviews, editorials, opinion pieces, interviews, and reports for journals across Canada and the United States. His views were conservative, strongly supportive of the State of Israel, and traditionally Jewish. He preferred discretion to controversy. Ages was notable for his ability to write for academic as well as general audiences. Likewise unusual was his appeal to newspaper publications in both Canada and the United States. Life Ages was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. He graduated from Nepean High School in 1953.
