Arturo Ripstein
Arturo Ripstein y Rosen (born December 13, 1943) is a Mexican film director and screenwriter. Considered the "Godfather of independent Mexican cinema", Ripstein's work is generally characterized by "somber, slow-paced, macabre melodramas tackling existential loneliness", often with a grotesque-like edge. He is a nine-time Ariel Award winner, including five for Best Picture and two for Best Director. Three of his films have been nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997, he received the prestigious National Prize for Arts and Sciences for his contributions to Mexican cinema. He was the second filmmaker (after Luis Buñuel) to receive that honour. Patricia Verónica Núñez Reyes Spíndola (born 11 July 1953) is a Mexican actress, director, and producer. She has received four Ariel Awards, two for Best Actress (''Los Motivos de Luz'' in 1985 and '' The Queen of the Night'' in 1994), and two for Supporting Actress (''Letters from Marusia'' in 1975 and ''El otro crimen'' in 1988). Life and career Spíndola studied to become an actress in several ''ateliers'' in Mexico and London. Juan Pastor, O.M. (died 1664) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of Crotone (1638–1664). Biography Juan Pastor was ordained a priest in the Order of the Minims.
