With Love And Fury
''With Love and Fury'' is a collaborative studio album by British string quartet the Brodsky Quartet and Australian singer songwriter Katie Noonan. The album has been described as a fusion of their styles into an incredibly composed and creative collaboration. The album is a reimagining of the words of Australian poet Judith Wright and features compositions from contemporary Australian composers including Carl Vine, Elena Kats-Chernin, Richard Tognetti, Iain Grandage, Andrew Ford, David Hirschfelder, Paul Grabowsky, Paul Dean and John Rodgers. The project combines several of Noonan's passions; contemporary Australian composition and the work of iconic Queensland poet Judith Wright. Brodsky Quartet
The Brodsky Quartet is a British string quartet, formed in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, in 1972 as the "Cleveland Quartet". Only Ian Belton and Jacqueline Thomas remain as original members. In addition to performing classical music, and in particular the string quartet repertoire of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bartók and Shostakovich, they have collaborated with such rock and pop figures as Björk, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney. They perform the "Strings" on Björk's ''Family Tree'' box set. This material mostly comes from concerts Björk and the Brodsky gave at London's Union Chapel in December 1999. The quartet used to perform standing up. Jacqueline Thomas had her cello fitted with an extra-long spike and used a small stool under her left foot, so that the instrument could rest against her bent knee. John Rodgers (musician)
John Rodgers (born 1962) is a Brisbane-based Australian composer, improviser, violinist, pianist and guitarist. Early life Rodgers was born in North Queensland and spent his early years there. Education Rodgers was awarded the 1983 Vada Jefferies Prize Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 1984. Career Rodgers had an early background in classical music. He played with the Australian Youth Orchestra in 1980 -1982 (Violin 1) and in 1983-1984 (Violin) was leader. During this time they performed in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and in 1984 undertook a tour of European Festivals. He played with the Queensland Theatre Orchestra, and the Hunter Orchestra. Thomas Shapcott
Thomas William Shapcott (born 21 March 1935) is an Australian poet, novelist, playwright, editor, librettist, short story writer and teacher. Biography Thomas William Shapcott was born in Ipswich, Queensland, and attended the Ipswich Grammar School with his twin brother, who was born on the previous day (20 March 1935). (The writer is left-handed, but his twin is right-handed.) He left school at 15 to work in his father's accountancy business, but completed an accountancy degree in 1961. In 1967 he graduated in arts from the University of Queensland. His first artistic impulse was to be a composer. Elixir (Australian Band)
Elixir is an Australian jazz trio formed in Brisbane in 1997 by Katie Noonan and Nick Stewart from ARIA award-winning, double-platinum selling band george and River Petein. Isaac Hurren joined the group prior to the release of their debut album. Since then Petein and Stewart have left while Stephen Magnusson joined the group on jazz guitar in 2005. ''The Juliet Letters'' is a studio album by the British rock singer and songwriter Elvis Costello. It was released on compact disc as Warner Brothers 45180. ''Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra'' is the first live album by Australian electronic duo Flight Facilities with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The album was recorded live at the Annual Southern Airlines concert at the Melbourne Festival in 2015. The album was released in December 2015. The album did not enter the ARIA Albums Chart, but peaked at number 19 on the ARIA Digital Albums chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2016, the album won the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album. The ARIA Music Award for Best Classical Album, is an award presented within the Fine Arts Awards at the annual ARIA Music Awards.
