They are the diminutive form of ''tarocchi'' (plural for ''tarocco''), referring to the reduction of the Bolognese pack from 78 to 62 cards, which probably occurred in the early 16th century. Mus is a card game widely played in Spain, France and Hispanic America. Originated in the Basque Country, it is a vying game. The first reference to this game goes back to 1745, when Manuel Larramendi, philologist and Jesuit Basque, quoted it the trilingual dictionary (Basque-Spanish-Latin). In Spain it is the most played card game, spawning several Mus clubs or "''peñas''" and becoming a staple game among college students. It is not uncommon to hear the Basque terms, such as "''órdago''" (from Basque "''hor dago''", "there it is") used by Spanish speakers, often without them being aware of the literal meanings of the terms and phrases. Reversis
Reversis, or more rarely, Réversi, is a very old trick-taking card game of the Hearts group whose origin is supposed to be Italian, transformed into Spain and then in France. It is considered one of the two probable ancestors of Hearts, Black Lady and Black Maria, the other being ''Coquimbert'' or ''Coquinbert''. It was very popular with the French aristocracy in the 17th and 18th centuries, and much played elsewhere, except in Britain.
