When I Survey The Wondrous Cross
The hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross", was written by Isaac Watts, and published in ''Hymns and Spiritual Songs'' in 1707. It is significant for being an innovative departure from the early English hymn style of only using paraphrased biblical texts, although the first couplet of the second verse paraphrases Galatians 6:14a and the second couplet of the fourth verse paraphrases Gal.6:14b. The poetry of "When I survey..." may be seen as English literary baroque. Text The second line of the first stanza originally read "Where the young Prince of Glory dy'd". Watts himself altered that line in the 1709 edition of ''Hymns and Spiritual Songs'', to prevent it from being mistaken as an allusion to Prince William, Duke of Gloucester, the heir to the throne who died at age 11. Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi ( – May 17, 1510), known as Sandro Botticelli (, ), was an Italian Renaissance painting, Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. A hymn is a type of song, and partially synonymous with devotional song, specifically written for the purpose of adoration or prayer, and typically addressed to a deity or deities, or to a prominent figure or personification. Ely Cathedral
Ely Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, is an Anglican cathedral in the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. The cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built an abbey church. The present building dates back to 1083, and it was granted cathedral status in 1109. ''Nervosa'' is an album by the band Showbread. It was released on May 13, 2008, simultaneously with its companion album ''Anorexia''. Nervosa second in a two-CD collection entitled Anorexia Nervosa, which is an accompaniment to the short story ''Anorexia Nervosa'' which comes packaged within the records. The album acts as a soundtrack to a read-along story book that features a chapter for each track. As the reader follows the story, the album reacts to what happens within the text. Taking a drastic new direction from their second album '' Age of Reptiles'', which featured a more straightforward alternative rock sound, the band took "Nervosa" in a much darker, industrial rock tone. Showbread (band)
Showbread is an American Christian hardcore band formed in Guyton, Georgia, in 1997. The group has gone through numerous lineup changes since its initial formation, but maintains its two core members, Josh Dies and Patrick Porter. The group built an underground fanbase in the late 1990s and early 2000s through word-of-mouth exposure and frequent touring. In 2004, the band signed with Tooth & Nail Records and released their major-label debut, ''No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical''. In 2010, the band left Tooth & Nail and joined Come&Live!, an independent record label that releases music via free downloads. ''The Noise We Make'' is the first commercial solo release by Chris Tomlin through sixstepsrecords in 2001. Critical reception ''The Noise We Make'' was generally well received by four music critics.
