Why Me (Kris Kristofferson Song)
"Why Me" is a country music, country and gospel music, gospel song written and recorded by American country music singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson. Song history Kristofferson had become the toast of Nashville in the early 1970s, with the massive success of compositions including "For the Good Times (song), For the Good Times", "Me and Bobby McGee", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down, Sunday Morning Coming Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night", among many others. He had a hit of his own as well, with "Lovin' Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)". "Why Me" was recorded by Kristofferson in 1972, featuring backing vocals by soon-to-be wife Rita Coolidge and up-and-coming singer-songwriter Larry Gatlin. It was released on the album ''Jesus Was a Capricorn'' in 1973, and became the biggest hit of his career. According to country music historian Bill Malone, Kristofferson wrote the song during an emotionally low period of his life after having attended a religious se ...

Why Me (Styx Song)
"Why Me" is a song written by Dennis DeYoung that was first released on Styx's 1979 double-platinum album ''Cornerstone''. It was also released as the second single from the album, and reached #26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #10 on the Canada RPM Top 100 Singles chart. Background DeYoung wrote "Why Me" at a time that he was depressed. He stated that "What I was saying was, why does this keep happening to me? I'm supposed to have it made, but I feel just like you do." At a concert in Chicago in 1980, DeYoung further explained the song as follows: Eric Hegedus of ''The Morning Call'' noted that "Why Me" is one of the songs on ''Cornerstone'' reminiscent of Styx's previous style (as opposed to songs like " Babe," "First Time" and " Boat on the River") and found it similar to "I'm O.K." from Styx' prior album '' Pieces of Eight''. ''Wichita Beacon'' reviewer Terre Johnson stated that "Why Me" (along with " Babe" and "Love in the Midnight" from the same album) incorporat ...

Living Years
''Living Years'' is the second album by Mike + The Mechanics, released in 1988. The album reached number 13 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. History Mike Rutherford began writing songs for the album in September 1987, shortly after the conclusion of Genesis's Invisible Touch Tour. However, he found himself immediately stricken with writer's block, a circumstance he attributes to stress over the complications with his wife's pregnancy, which endangered their child's life. The baby (Rutherford's third) was safely delivered in November, and Rutherford said that the relief made him feel "like a new man". In January he entered an extremely prolific songwriting period, and by the end of the month he had what he and producer/co-writer Christopher Neil felt was a good album's worth of material. In light of this, Neil wanted to move up the recording sessions, which had been scheduled for April. Rutherford vetoed the idea, however, and with his burs ...
