West Indian Cricket Team In Australia In 2023–24
The West Indies cricket team toured Australia in January and February 2024 to play two Tests, three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series, where the teams were competing for the Frank Worrell Trophy, formed part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. The T20I series formed part of both teams' preparation for the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup tournament. Australia won the first Test by 10 wickets. Pat Cummins
Patrick James Cummins (born 8 May 1993) is an Australian international cricketer who captains the Australia men's national cricket team in Test and One Day International cricket. Cummins is widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers that Australia has produced. Cummins was a member of the Australian team that won the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, vice-captain of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup win, and was the winning captain of the 2021–23 ICC World Test Championship and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Adam Zampa
Adam Zampa (born 31 March 1992) is an Australian international cricketer who represents Australian cricket team in limited-overs cricket. Zampa was a member of the Australian teams that won the 2023 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup. He is also the highest wicket-taker for Australia in Twenty20 International. Alex Tyson Carey (born 27 August 1991) is an Australian international cricketer who plays for the Australian national team as a wicket-keeper-batter. Formerly an Australian rules footballer, Carey has captained Australia in ODI cricket and has served as a vice-captain in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. In domestic cricket, he plays for South Australia and Adelaide Strikers. Scott Boland
Scott Michael Boland (born 11 April 1989) is an Australian international cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he also plays domestically for Victoria and the Melbourne Stars. In March 2019, he was named the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year by Cricket Australia. Day/night Cricket
Day/night cricket, also known as floodlit cricket, is a cricket match that is played either totally or partially under floodlights in the evening. The first regular cricket to be played under floodlights occurred during World Series Cricket, unsanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), attracting large crowds to see some of the world's best players compete in Australia and the West Indies. In 1979, when the ICC and World Series Cricket came to an understanding, the first floodlit One Day International was played, also in Australia. Floodlit cricket has since been played around the world, although England was slow to take it up due to their climate. 2024 Men's T20 World Cup
The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the ninth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, co-hosted by Cricket West Indies and USA Cricket from 1 to 29 June 2024. It was the first major International Cricket Council, ICC tournament to include matches played in the United States. The West Indies had previously hosted the 2010 World Twenty20, 2010 competition. A total of twenty teams competed in 55 matches across six venues in the West Indies, and three in the United States. 2023–2025 World Test Championship
The 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship was the third edition of the ICC World Test Championship. It started in June 2023 with the Ashes, which was contested between England and Australia, and it finished in June 2025 with the final, played between Australia and South Africa at Lord's. In the final, South Africa defeated Australia by 5 wickets to win their maiden championship. This was also their second ICC trophy after 1998. Frank Worrell Trophy
The Frank Worrell Trophy is awarded to the winner of the West Indies–Australia Test match series in cricket. The trophy is named after Frank Worrell who was the first black captain of the West Indies. It was first awarded at the end of the 1960–61 series in Australia, the first Test of which ended in a tie. The Australian Cricket Board of Control and Don Bradman commissioned former Test cricketer and professional jeweller Ernie McCormick to create a perpetual trophy following the tie. Twenty20 International
Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of Twenty20 cricket, in which each team plays a single innings with a maximum of twenty overs. The matches are played between international teams recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In the T20I format, each bowler is restricted to a maximum of four overs. A mandatory powerplay is taken during the first six overs of an innings. The first T20I match took place on 17 February 2005 between Australia and New Zealand, with the first ICC T20 World Cup held in 2007. One Day International (ODI) is a format of cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of fifty overs, with the game lasting up to 7 hours. The World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition.
