Wounded In Action
Wounded in action (WIA) describes combatants who have been wounded while fighting in a combat zone during wartime, but have not been killed. Typically, it implies that they are temporarily or permanently incapable of bearing arms or continuing to fight. Generally, the Wounded in Action are far more numerous than those killed. Common combat injuries include second and third-degree burns, broken bones, shrapnel wounds, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, nerve damage, paralysis, loss of sight and hearing, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and limb loss. For the U.S. military, becoming WIA in combat generally results in subsequent conferral of the Purple Heart, because the purpose of the medal itself (one of the highest awards, military or civilian, officially given by the American government) is to recognize those killed, incapacitated, or wounded in battle. Windows Image Acquisition (WIA; sometimes also called Windows Imaging Architecture) is a proprietary Microsoft driver model and application programming interface (API) for Microsoft Windows Me and later Windows operating systems that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanners, digital cameras, and digital video equipment. It was first introduced in 2000 as part of Windows Me, and continues to be the standard imaging device and API model through successive Windows versions. Wattay International Airport () is an international airport in Laos, the country's main international gateway, serving the capital Vientiane, located outside of the city centre in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane Prefecture. The airport is operated by the Lao Airport Authority (LAA) and serves as a hub for Lao Skyway, Lanexang Airways International, and Lao Airlines. Wentzville Ice Arena
Wentzville Ice Arena is an arena and recreational sport facility located in Wentzville, Missouri and owned and operated by the City of Wentzville Parks & Recreation Department. It served as the home for LU Lindenwood Lions Men's and Women's ice hockey teams and LU synchronized skating team until relocating to the newly built Centene Community Ice Center. It features two NHL-size sheets of ice for ice hockey, figure skating and open skating, and local high school hockey. WIA (originally Women in Animation) is a Nonprofit organization, non-profit organization with the purpose of furthering, promoting, and supporting female animators in the art, science and business of animation. WIA helps young female artists to find a place in the business world. WIA has chapters in San Francisco, New York City, Dublin, Pune, and Toronto. WIA states that the lack of an equal number of women and men in the animation profession is because "there has been very little work to intentionally change the status quo." In order to help women assess the animation profession, WIA has created a mentorship program, a voice over group, a scholarship, talks, and events.
