Vunivalu Of Bau
Turaga na Vunivalu na Tui Kaba is the Paramount Chief of the Kubuna Confederacy, loosely translated the title means ''Warlord of Bau'' or Root of War. The succession to the title does not follow primogeniture, but the candidate must be a high-ranking member of the Tui Kaba clan. History The Vunivalu was not always the senior Chieftain in Kubuna and Bau. When Vueti a great grandson of Lutunasobasoba defeated the Tui Viti's sons at Nakauvadra, he was awarded with a Tui Viti sacred stone- award signifying authority (tawake or flag). From Nakauvadra, he left via Nakorotubu and had his 1st child, a son through supernatural powers or ''Gonesau'' known as Nadurucoko who was raised by the Dewala tribe at Korolevu fort in Dewala, Nakorotubu. Kubuna
Kubuna is one of the three ''confederacies'' that make up Fiji's House of Chiefs, to which all of Fiji's chiefs belong. Details of Kubuna It consists of the provinces of Tailevu, Naitasiri, Lomaiviti, Ra and parts of the western province of Ba. Most of Kubuna is located in the northern part of Fiji's Central Division. The capital of the confederacy is the chiefly island of Bau in Tailevu. While Kubuna is foremost the ''i-cavuti'' of Bau, the name is also shared by certain provinces or ''vanua'' that were her allies or influenced by her in the past, which are now part of the confederacy. Ratu Tanoa Visawaqa
Ratu Tanoa Visawaqa (pronounced ) (died on 8 December 1852) was a Fijian Chieftain who held the title 5th Vunivalu of Bau. With Adi Savusavu, one of his nine wives, he was the father of Ratu Seru Epenisa Cakobau, who succeeded in unifying Fiji with the help from British missionaries and the crown into forming the contemporary Fiji today. Installation The son of Ratu Banuve Baleivavalagi, 3rd Vunivalu of Bau and his second wife, Roko Lewasaki. The Lau Islands aka little Tonga (also called the Lau Group, the Eastern Group, the Eastern Archipelago) of Fiji are situated in the southern Pacific Ocean, just east of the Koro Sea. Of this chain of about sixty islands and islets, about thirty are inhabited. The Lau Group covers a land area of 188 square miles (487 square km), and had a population of 10,683 at the most recent census in 2007. Lakeba
Lakeba (pronounced ) is an island in Fiji’s Southern Lau Archipelago; the provincial capital of Lau is located here. Samanunu Cakobau-Talakuli
Adi Litia Samanunu Cakobau-Talakuli (1940–2012) was a Fijian chief, politician, and diplomat. The eldest child of Ratu Sir George Cakobau (the late ''Vunivalu of Bau'' and Governor-General), Talakuli held a number of senior positions in the Fijian government. She was Minister for iTaukei Affairs in 1994 and 1995, and was considered as a candidate for the Vice-Presidency in 1997. She became Fiji's High Commissioner to Malaysia and Ambassador to Thailand and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in 1999 Appointed to the Fijian Senate in June 2006 as one of nine nominees of the Fijian government, Talakuli was also appointed to the Cabinet as a Minister without portfolio. Finau Tabakaucoro
Adi Finau Tamari Tabakaucoro is a former Fijian politician, who served as Assistant Minister for Women, Culture, and Social Welfare in the interim Cabinet formed by Laisenia Qarase in the wake of the Fiji coup of 2000. She held office till an elected government took power in September 2001. She stood as an independent candidate in the Tailevu South Lomaiviti Open Constituency in the 2001 election, but was not successful. Tabakaucoro is a member of the Tui Kaba clan, the royal family of Tailevu and of the Kubuna Confederacy. Jope Seniloli
''Ratu'' Jope Naucabalavu Seniloli (14 June 1939 – 28 June 2015) was a Fijian chief who held the title of Turaga Taukei Naua and who served as Fiji's vice-president from 25 March 2001 to 29 November 2004, when he was forced to resign following his conviction for treason on 6 August 2004, and the rejection of his appeal early in November. Appointment and subsequent trial Seniloli was appointed vice-president in 2000 as an apparent gesture of appeasement towards the supporters of the 2000 coup which deposed the lawfully elected government of President ''Ratu Sir'' Kamisese Mara and Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry.
