''Visions'' is the third studio album by Canadian musician Grimes. It was released through 4AD on January 31, 2012. Her first since signing with 4AD, the album was recorded entirely on Apple's GarageBand software in Grimes' apartment over a three-week period. It was mixed by Grimes and her manager, Sebastian Cowan, at their La Brique Studio Space in Montreal. ''Visions'' was streamed on the NPR website a week before it was released in the United States. ''Visions'' was acclaimed by music critics and was included in several year-end lists. The album's two singles, " Oblivion" and "Genesis", were named among the best songs of 2012 by many publications including ''Rolling Stone, Pitchfork'' and ''NME''. It has also appeared on several decade-end lists, with '' Gorilla vs. Bear'' naming it the best album of the decade and ''Pitchfork'' naming "Oblivion" as the second best song of the decade. Claire Elise Boucher (; born March 17, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her early work has been described as extending from "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop, and has incorporated influences from electronic music, hip hop, and rock. Her lyrics often touch on science fiction and feminist themes. She has released five studio albums. D'Eon (musician)
Chris d'Eon (born 1985), mononymously known as d'Eon, is a Canadian electronic musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and composer based in Montreal, Quebec. He is known for his musical eclectism, which encompasses various elements of electronica, pop, avant-garde music, and world music. Early life Chris d'Eon began making music at four years old after receiving synthesizers and a sequencer from his parents. He took professional music courses as a teenager before dropping out of his studies entirely. In 2008, d'Eon travelled to the Himalayas and was taught how to play the dramyin by a Tibetan musician. During this trip, he moved to the Dip Tse Chok Ling monastery and didn't speak for months.
