Vicente Do Rego Monteiro (film)
Vicente do Rego Monteiro (December 19, 1899 — June 5, 1970), born in Recife, was a Brazilian painter, sculptor, and poet, born to a rich family. He was part of the Semana de Arte Moderna exhibition and helped form the later Brazilian Modernism. Biography Vicente do Rego Monteiro was part of a rich Pernambuco family in Recife. His mother was a professor and his father a businessman. He was born December 19, 1899. He was known for being a Brazilian painter, poet and sculptor, by 1911 he went to Paris, in company of his older sister. He attended a course, for little time, at the Académie Julian, as well as the academies Colarossi and the Grande Chaumiére. At those academies he established close friendships with Parisian Modernists. Noble Savage
A noble savage is a literary stock character who embodies the concept of the Indigenous peoples, indigene, outsider, wild human, an "Other (philosophy), other" who has not been "corrupted" by civilization, and therefore symbolizes humanity's innate goodness. Marajó () is a large coastal island in the state of Pará, Brazil. It is the main and largest of the islands in the Marajó Archipelago. Woodblock printing in Japan (, ''mokuhanga'') is a technique best known for its use in the ''ukiyo-e'' artistic genre of single sheets, but it was also used for printing books in the same period. Widely adopted in Japan during the Edo period (1603–1868) and similar to woodcut in Western printmaking in some regards, the mokuhanga technique differs in that it uses water-based inks—as opposed to western woodcut, which typically uses oil-based inks. The Japanese water-based inks provide a wide range of vivid colors, glazes, and transparency. ''Paubrasilia echinata'' is a species of flowering plant in the legume family, Fabaceae, that is endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. It is a Brazilian timber tree commonly known as Pernambuco wood or brazilwood ( pt, pau-de-pernambuco, ; Tupi: ) and is the national tree of Brazil. Anita Catarina Malfatti (December 2, 1889 – November 6, 1964) is heralded as the first Brazilian artist to introduce European and American forms of Modernism to Brazil. Her solo exhibition in Sao Paulo, from 1917–1918, was controversial at the time, and her expressionist style and subject were revolutionary for the complacently old-fashioned art expectations of Brazilians who were searching for a national identity in art, but who were not prepared for the influences Malfatti would bring to the country. Mário Raul de Morais Andrade (October 9, 1893 – February 25, 1945) was a Brazilian poet, novelist, musicologist, art historian and critic, and photographer.
