Vejen with a population of 10,009 (1 January 2022) is the main town in Vejen Municipality, Denmark. Geography The town is situated in the Danish region of Syddanmark and is a railway town at the railway between the cities of Kolding and Esbjerg. Niels Hansen Jacobsen
Niels Hansen Jacobsen (September 10, 1861 – November 26, 1941) was a Danish sculptor and ceramist. He is most famous for creating the once controversial sculpture, '' Trold, der vejrer kristenblod''. The name of the statue is taken from a story in Norse folklore where the hero hides in the troll's castle. Thereafter, whenever the troll enters the castle, he cries: "I smell a Christian man's blood!" Biography Niels Hansen Jacobsen was born and grew up on a farm in Vejen. He was the son of Carl Peter Jacobsen (1819-1903) and Anna Kirstine Hansen (1822–91). He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen between the years 1884-1888. At the Academy of Art, he received drawing lessons from Frederik Vermehren and Carl Bloch, while the sculptor Theobald Stein taught anatomy and Vilhelm Bissen in modeling. Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph (born 1 July 1976 in Vejen) is a Danish TV and radio host. She was previously a co-host in the morning show ''Morgenhyrderne'' on Radio 100FM along with Lasse Rimmer and Lars Hjortshøj. She resigned in March 2006. Pippi Longstocking
Pippi Longstocking ( sv, Pippi Långstrump) is the fictional main character in an eponymous series of children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Pippi was named by Lindgren's daughter Karin, who asked her mother for a get-well story when she was off school. Pippi is red-haired, freckled, unconventional and superhumanly strong – able to lift her horse one-handed. She is playful and unpredictable. She often makes fun of unreasonable adults, especially if they are pompous and condescending. Her anger comes out in extreme cases, such as when a man mistreats his horse. Ingrid Vang Nyman
Ingrid Vang Nyman (21 August 1916 – 13 December 1959) was a Danish illustrator noted for her work on the Pippi Longstocking books of which she was the original illustrator. Despite the worldwide fame of her Pippi illustrations, Vang Nyman did not receive as much recognition from the publication as author Astrid Lindgren, and remains fairly unknown. Biography Ingrid Vang Nyman (born Ingrid Vang Lauridsen) was born in Vejen in southern Jylland. Born to a family of intellectuals, Vang Nyman was encouraged to learn and study independently. Following preparatory study at seventeen, she studied for a couple of years at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from the age of nineteen. However, she did not enjoy her time there and ended her studies early.
