''Via'' is the debut studio album by American progressive metalcore band Volumes (band), Volumes. It was initially released on September 27, 2011 through Mediaskare Records. The album was re-released in 2016 independently under the 91367 Records moniker, remastered and with a new cover. However, the album's fifth track, "Serenity", originally contained a solo towards the end of the song, but it was removed from the remastered edition of the album, likely due to label issues relating to Chris Letchford of Scale the Summit performing the solo on the album's original edition. Volumes (sometimes stylized as VOLUMES) is an American progressive metalcore band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. The group currently consists of bassist Raad Soudani, vocalist Michael Barr, vocalist Myke Terry, and drummer Nick Ursich. Throughout the band's history, bassist Raad Soudani has remained the only constant member. Mediaskare Records was an American independent record label specializing in heavy metal music. The label was founded by Baron Bodnar, with its offices located in Los Angeles, California. The label's prominent artists included Volumes, Bury Your Dead, and Silent Civilian. In February 2008, it was announced that Mediaskare entered a partnership with Century Media Records. ''No Sleep'' is the second studio album by American progressive metalcore band Volumes, released on July 15, 2014. It is the last album to feature founding member and co-vocalist Michael Barr until his return in 2020, and it is the last to be released under the label Mediaskare Records. The album is a departure from the sound of their previous album, ''Via'', as many of the songs are shorter in length, and contain more clean singing compared to those from the first album. A lyric video was released for "The Mixture" and the full album was streamed by Mediaskare Records via YouTube. Along with their 2011 release ''Via'', the album was re-released in 2016 independently under the 91367 Records moniker, remastered and with a new cover. The remastered version omits the outro from the third track, "Erased", for unknown reasons. Chris Letchford
Chris Letchford (born October 7, 1984) is an American guitarist. He is the lead guitarist in the instrumental progressive metal band Scale the Summit. His technical ability has been recognized in magazines such as ''Guitar World'', ''Revolver'', and All Metal Resource. Background Letchford began playing guitar when he was 8 years old. He had over 6 years of private guitar lessons before applying to the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, majoring in the Guitar Craft program and then the Guitar Performance program, GIT. Along with this education, he also attended Berklee College of Music with a major in music. While at the Musicians Institute, he formed Scale the Summit with his friend and fellow guitarist Travis Levrier, and drummer Pat Skeffington, whom they met there in 2004.
