University Of Tasmania Cricket Club
The University of Tasmania Cricket Club, also known as the "Lions", represent the University of Tasmania in Tasmania's Grade Cricket Competition. Although many of the players are students, or former students it is not compulsory to be so, in order to play for the cricket club. The Tasmanian University Cricket Club was founded in 1898, just eight years after the University itself was founded. Despite being founded over 60 years earlier, TUCC did not get accepted into TCA competitions until the 1960–61 season. TUCC have won six TCA premierships, including back to back wins in 1985–86 and 1986–87. TUCC competes in the TCA competition on Saturdays and Sundays from October to March. They have senior teams in First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade and Fourth Grade (KSCA 5th Grade) and junior teams including U17, U15, U13, Hurricanes Stage 1&2 and Woolworths Master Blasters and Junior Blasters. Jamie Cox
Jamie Cox (born 15 October 1969) is an Australian cricketer and former opening batsman for Tasmania in Australia's domestic competitions. He then played county cricket in England where he captained Somerset. He is a former member of the Cricket Australia's National Selection Committee and previously Director of Cricket at the South Australian Cricket Association. He was then General Manager of Football Performance at the St Kilda Football Club in the AFL, before being appointed to the MCC staff as Assistant Secretary. Career Cox was born at Burnie in Tasmania on 15 October 1969 and from a young age was breaking batting records. Joe Mennie
Joe Matthew Mennie (born 24 December 1988) is an Australian professional cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler for South Australia, the representative team of the South Australian Cricket Association, and in the 2017–18 Big Bash League season he will begin playing for the Melbourne Renegades, his fourth BBL team. Mennie lived in New South Wales for most of his early life and made his way through the ranks of New South Wales cricket to be part of New South Wales' Second XI in 2010, but he did not see many further opportunities for him there and moved to South Australia where he quickly made both his first-class and List A cricket debuts. Mohammad Hassan Azad (born 7 January 1994) is an English cricketer who most recently played for Northamptonshire. He is a left handed opening batsman and an off-break bowler. Career Azad began his career in the academy at Nottinghamshire. He made his first-class debut on 2 April 2015 for Loughborough MCCU against Hampshire. Tony Daly (born 7 March 1966 in West Pymble, Australia) is a former Australian rugby union footballer who represented Australia national rugby union team, Australia in 41 Test match (rugby union), Test matches. John Hampshire
John Harry Hampshire (10 February 1941 – 1 March 2017), also known as Jack Hampshire, was an English cricketer and umpire, who played eight Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) for England between 1969 and 1975. He played first-class cricket for Yorkshire from 1961 to 1981, and for Derbyshire from 1982 to 1984. Ben Laughlin (cricketer)
Ben Laughlin (born 3 October 1982) is a former Australian cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he was primarily a Twenty20 specialist, featuring for a number of teams in the top global leagues. He also represented Australia in white-ball cricket 8 times. Laughlin last featured in professional cricket for the Brisbane Heat of the BBL in 2021.
