Shooting At The 1976 Summer Olympics – Mixed Trap
The trap competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics was held on 18–20 July in Montreal, Canada. There were 44 competitors from 29 nations, with each nation limited to two shooters. The event was won by Donald Haldeman of the United States, the nation's first victory in the trap since back-to-back wins in 1912 and 1920. The three total victories tied the United States with Italy for most among nations at the time, though Italy would win the next two and the United States has not win again since (as of the 2016 Games). In this Games, Ubaldesco Baldi of Italy took bronze. Silver went to Armando Marques of Portugal, that nation's first medal in the trap. Tim Shaw (swimmer)
Timothy Andrew Shaw (born November 8, 1957) is an American former Olympic medal-winning swimmer and water polo player. He swam at the 1976 Summer Olympics and played on the American team at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He is one of a handful of athletes to win Olympic medals in two different sports. Between 1974 and 1984, Shaw won two Olympic silver medals; three world championships; seven U.S. Amateur Athletic Union national titles; and three U.S. National Collegiate Athletic Association championships. In 1974 in space of four days Shaw broke Mark Spitz's 200-meter freestyle world record, Rick DeMont's 400-meter freestyle world record and Stephen Holland's 1500-meter freestyle world record. Shaw appeared on the cover of ''Sports Illustrated'' magazine on August 4, 1975, after receiving the FINA Prize Eminence Award in 1974, representative of the greatest contribution to world aquatics. Douglas Dale Northway (born April 28, 1955) is an American former swimmer, who represented the United States at two consecutive Olympic Games. John Naber
John Phillips Naber (born January 20, 1956) is an American former competitive swimmer, five-time Olympic medalist and former world record-holder in multiple events. Born in Evanston, Illinois, Naber studied in England and Italy where his father worked as a management consultant. He graduated from Woodside High School in Northern California, then completed his bachelor's degree in psychology in 1977 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While at USC, he led the Trojans to four consecutive NCAA titles (1974–1977). 1976 Olympics At age twenty, Naber won four gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. Jim Montgomery (swimmer)
James Paul Montgomery (born January 24, 1955) is an American former competition swimmer, four-time Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder. Montgomery was the first man to break the 50-second barrier (49.99) in the 100-meter freestyle, at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, where he won three gold medals and one bronze. Montgomery won five gold medals in freestyle events at the first World Championships in 1973 in Belgrade. From Yugoslavia, Montgomery went on to Indiana University, where he swam for Doc Counsilman for four years, during which time he competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games winning three golds and one bronze in the summer between his junior and senior years. He founded the Dallas Masters swim program in 1981 and later renamed it the Lone Star Masters. In 1990, the name officially became Baylor/Lone Star Masters.
