Underground (1970 Film)
''Underground'' is a 1970 American drama film directed by Arthur H. Nadel, written by Ron A. Bishop and Andy Lewis, and starring Robert Goulet, Danielle Gaubert, Lawrence Dobkin, Carl Duering, Joachim Hansen and Roger Delgado. It was released on October 7, 1970, by United Artists. Production Many of the scenes set in England were actually filmed in the Republic of Ireland, in the town of Enniscorthy. Buildings seen in the film included St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy railway station, Lett's Brewery, Abbey Square and the rowing club boathouse. Plot During World War II, an American intelligence agent in England, ashamed for having yielded information to the Germans during a previous capture, attempts to redeem himself by contriving his way into a French resistance group, with his ultimate plan being to kidnap a valuable German general and obtain his secrets. Arthur Gardner (producer)
Arthur Gardner (born Arthur Goldberg; June 7, 1910 – December 19, 2014) was an American actor and film producer. He was known for his television western, ''The Rifleman''. He was a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Early life Gardner was born Arthur Goldberg in Marinette, Wisconsin, and raised in an upper-middle-class Jewish family. He started his show business career as an actor when he was 18 years old. In 1929 he arrived in Hollywood, where Carl Laemmle employed him as an extra for the film studio Universal. One of his first roles was as a student in 1930's ''All Quiet on the Western Front''. He was the last surviving member of the cast and crew. Gardner and Luise Rainer were in 1938's '' Dramatic School'', and, up until his death two weeks before Rainer, were the last two surviving members, both at the age of 104. Enniscorthy Railway Station
Enniscorthy railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Inis Córthaidh) is a railway station in County Wexford, Ireland. It is in the centre of the town of Enniscorthy. Description It has two platforms, a passing loop and a siding. The station is fully staffed. The far-side platform, accessible only by a footbridge, is used only when two trains pass. History The station opened on 16 November 1863. Originally there was a turntable behind the second platform which was used during the building of the tunnel under Enniscorthy town but was also used afterwards due to heavy traffic on Market Day. There was once an engine shed that was opposite of the present-day goods shed. Two water columns were at each end of the platforms and there was also a very long siding for loading cattle. Jim Bartley (born 1945) is an Irish actor best known for his part as Bela Doyle in the Irish soap opera ''Fair City'', a part he has had since 1990. Martin Crosbie (7 April 1911 – 10 February 1982) was an Irish tenor and older brother to Paddy Crosbie of ''The School Around the Corner''. Martin, who was affectionately known as "The Miller's daughter", a song he made his own, started in show business in his early 1930s. Life The eldest in a family of four, he was christened John Martin but was known as Mossy to his family and friends. His mother and father came from Wexford town. His father, Martin, was a foreman-fitter and turner on the Permanent way, that is the tracks section, of the old Dublin United Tramways. David Leland (born 20 April 1947) is an English film director, screenwriter and actor who came to international fame with his directorial debut ''Wish You Were Here'' in 1987. Life He initially trained as an actor at Central School of Speech and Drama. In 1963, he was part of the breakaway group of Central staff and students who formed Drama Centre London. After several small parts as actor he began his collaboration with British television director Alan Clarke in 1981. Andreas Malandrinos
Andreas Malandrinos ( el, Ανδρέας Μαλανδρίνος; 14 November 1888, in Greece – 11 July 1970, in Surrey) was a Greek-born actor who started appearing in British films from 1930, until his death 40 years later in Surrey, England. He was fluent in six languages and used this talent to good effect to flourish as a dialect comedian in British music halls. Derry Power (born 1935) is an Irish actor born in Dublin. He appeared in the first production of Brendan Behan's The Quare Fellow at Dublin's Pike Theatre in 1954. He is best known for playing management genius Seamus Finnegan in the BBC Television sitcom ''The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'', with the classic line "Would you be having a joke there with a simple, tongue-tied Irishman from the land of the bogs and the little people?". Nicole Croisille (born 9 October 1936 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France) is a French singer and actress. She has appeared in 24 films between 1961 and 2005, and recorded several albums since 1961. Perhaps her most heard work is on the soundtrack of 1966 film, '' A Man and a Woman'' (''Un Homme et Une Femme''). She sang one solo, "Today It's You," and dueted with Pierre Barouh on several other numbers.
