Ukrainian Presidential Inauguration
The inauguration of the president of Ukraine is a ceremony that takes place to mark the start of a new term for a newly elected president. Description The presidential inauguration traditionally starts at the building of the Verkhovna Rada building in the center of the Pecherskyi District in Kyiv. Prior to the arrival of the president-elect, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada introduces distinguished dignitaries including foreign guests and former presidents. Upon arrival, the president goes into the main chamber to the tune of the presidential fanfare, before beginning the ceremonies with a rendition of ''Shche ne vmerla Ukraina'' by a choir and band. "Glory to Ukraine!" ( uk, Слава Україні!, Sláva Ukrayíni!, ) is a Ukrainian national salute, known as a symbol of Ukrainian sovereignty and resistance and as the official salute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2018. It is often accompanied by the response "Glory to the heroes!" ( uk, Героям слава!, Heróyam sláva!, links=no, ). The phrase first appeared at the beginning of the 20th century in different variations, when it became popular among Ukrainians during the Ukrainian War of Independence from 1917 to 1921. The Kyiv Presidential Honor Guard Battalion ( uk, Почесна варта Окремого Київського полку Президента України) is a guard of honour unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is a part of the Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky Independent Presidential Guard Regiment. History On November 10, 1962, the Honor Guard Company of the Kyiv Military District was formed. In 1975, the company was moved to Kyiv after being stationed in Bila Tserkva for one year. It formed the 427th Regiment of the Civil Defense of the USSR. For 16 years it was the official honor guard of the Ukrainian SSR. On March 10, 1992, an honor guard company was introduced into the brigades of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
