U.S. Route 54 In Missouri
U.S. Route 54 (US 54) in Missouri is a west-east highway that starts from the Kansas state line in Nevada to the Illinois state line in Louisiana. Route description In Missouri, US 54 runs from the southwest portion of the state to the northeast. It is a major conduit through the Ozarks and is the primary access road to Pomme de Terre Lake and Lake of the Ozarks. After entering the state from neighboring Kansas, the route moves eastward through many rural towns and communities. It passes through Nevada, where it serves as the main access road to the town's business market. In Nevada, the route intersects with I-49 and US 71 as exits 102A and 102B on I-49/US 71. Macks Creek, Missouri
Macks Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southwest Camden County, Missouri, United States. The population was 244 at the 2010 census. History A post office called Macks Creek has been in operation since 1872. The community takes its name from a nearby creek of the same name, which most likely was named after the local Mack or Hack family. In 1997, a state audit of Macks Creek's treasury uncovered major financial woes. Shortly afterward, virtually every town official resigned from office and the city itself declared bankruptcy. In 2012, voters approved dissolving the town with 69% in favor of the motion; above the required amount of 60%. Lucas Oil Speedway is a motorsports racing facility located at the intersection of U.S. Route 54 and Missouri Route 83, in Wheatland, Missouri, United States. Its primary circuit is a dirt track banked oval motorsport race track. Co-located at the site of the speedway is ''Lucas Lake'', a motorboat racing venue, the first purpose-built boat drag racing lake in the world, located across from the track. Interstate 49 (I-49) is an Interstate Highway in the US state of Missouri that was designated on December 12, 2012. It overlaps U.S. Route 71 (US 71) in the western part of the state, beginning at the Arkansas state line, and ending at I-435 and I-470 on the southeast side of Kansas City. Upon completion, the highway will connect Kansas City to Texarkana, Arkansas, and Shreveport and Lafayette, Louisiana. Lake of the Ozarks is a reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in the northern part of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Parts of three smaller tributaries to the Osage are included in the impoundment: the Niangua River, Grandglaize Creek, and Gravois Creek. The lake has a surface area of and of shoreline. Pomme De Terre Lake
Pomme de Terre Lake is located in southwest Missouri at the confluence of Lindley Creek and the Pomme de Terre River (for which it is named). The lake is located in southern Hickory and northern Polk counties, about north of Springfield. Its name is the French language word for potato (literally "earth-apple"). The lake is part of a series of lakes in the Osage River Basin designed and constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for flood control. Construction began in 1957 and was complete in 1961 at a cost of $14,946,784. Storage of water began on October 29, 1961 and the multipurpose pool was reached on June 15, 1963. The dam is adjacent to Pomme de Terre State Park and is crossed by Route 254. It consists of a circular tunnel with two 6.5 X hydraulic slide service gates and a single circular low flow gate.
