Turkey In The Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "We Could Be the Same" written by Evren Ozdemir, Fiona Movery Akıncı and Manga. The song was performed by Manga. The entry was selected through an internal selection organised by Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT). Before Eurovision Internal selection Following Hadise's fourth place in 2009 with the song "Düm Tek Tek", several artists were rumoured in Turkish media as potential Turkish representatives for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, including singers Murat Boz, Tarkan and Ziynet Sali. Tarkan was tipped as the favourite to represent Turkey with agreements being confirmed, however this was later denied by both TRT and the artist's management. Nazan Öncel
Nazan Öncel (; born 6 February 1956) is a Turkish singer-songwriter. She also does the arrangements for most of them and has written songs for such singers as Tarkan and İbrahim Tatlıses. Biography and career In 1978, her song "''Sana Kul Köle Olmuştum''" ("I Had Become Your Slave"), written by Erdener Koyutürk and Özdener Koyutürk, was aired on radio and television, and Nazan's interesting voice attracted attention. Her first album (LP), ''Yağmur Duası'' (''Prayer for Rain'') was published in 1982. The first album, where all of the songs were written by Öncel herself, was published in 1992, by the title "''Bir Hadise Var''" ("There is an Issue"). Turkey has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1975. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in , Turkey has only failed to qualify for the final once, in . TRT 1 (''TRT One'') is the first Turkish national television channel, owned by state broadcaster TRT. It was launched on 31 January 1968 as a test broadcast and was officially launched in December 1971. It was the only channel in Turkey until 15 September 1986, when TRT launched its second channel, 2. Kanal. It is also available in Azerbaijan on terrestrial television. The MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 took place in Berlin, Germany at the O2 World and Brandenburg Gate on 5 November 2009. The awards ceremony was presented by Katy Perry for a 2nd consecutive year. Ayşe Sibel Tüzün (born 29 September 1971) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. Life and career Sibel began her musical education at the TRT Istanbul Children's Choir. During her secondary school years she joined the ''Youth Choir of TRT'' where she met Gökçen Koray, Cenan Akın and Hikmet Şimşek. She showed an interest in pop and rock music during her years at Beşiktaş Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi, culminating in a third-place finish in a Song Contest among high-school students in Turkey. Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Superstar" written and performed by Sibel Tüzün. The entry was selected through an internal selection organised by Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT). Şebnem Ferah (born 12 April 1972) is a Turkish singer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist. She was the lead vocalist of the all-female hard rock band Volvox until 1994, after which she went on to pursue an illustrious solo career. Her music style varies from pop rock to hard rock though her later albums have progressively incorporated more of the hard rock sound.
