Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Superstar" written and performed by Sibel Tüzün. The entry was selected through an internal selection organised by Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT). Before Eurovision Internal selection On 5 January 2006, TRT announced during a press conference that singer Sibel Tüzün had been internally selected to represent Turkey in Athens. Sibel Tüzün
Ayşe Sibel Tüzün (born 29 September 1971) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. Life and career Sibel began her musical education at the TRT Istanbul Children's Choir. During her secondary school years she joined the ''Youth Choir of TRT'' where she met Gökçen Koray, Cenan Akın and Hikmet Şimşek. She showed an interest in pop and rock music during her years at Beşiktaş Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi, culminating in a third-place finish in a Song Contest among high-school students in Turkey. In 1988, she enrolled in Istanbul University's famous Music Conservatory. In 1990, she entered Eurovizyon Şarkı Seçmeleri with the song Kime ne, to choose Turkey's song for Eurovision - She came 9th. Turkish Radio And Television Corporation
The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT; Turkish : ) is the national public broadcaster of Turkey, founded in 1964. TRT was for many years the only television and radio provider in Turkey. TRT 1 (''TRT One'') is the first Turkish national television channel, owned by state broadcaster TRT. It was launched on 31 January 1968 as a test broadcast and was officially launched in December 1971. It was the only channel in Turkey until 15 September 1986, when TRT launched its second channel, 2. Kanal. It is also available in Azerbaijan on terrestrial television. Ukraine participated in Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Show Me Your Love" written by Mikhail Nekrasov, Tina Karol and DJ Pasha, Pavlo Shylko. The song was performed by Tina Karol.
