Toys In The Attic (2009 Film)
''Toys in the Attic'' ( cs, Na půdě aneb Kdo má dneska narozeniny?; festival title: ''In the Attic or Who Has a Birthday Today?'') is a 2009 internationally co-produced stop-motion animated fantasy film directed by Jiří Barta and written by Edgar Dutka and Barta which depicts a community of toys and other objects in an attic who come to life when no human is around. It is an international co-production between the Czech Republic, France, Japan and Slovakia. The film was released first in the Czech Republic on 5 March 2009 and has been shown subtitled at film festivals internationally. An American English dub – adapted, produced and directed by Vivian Schilling and performed by actors including Forest Whitaker, Joan Cusack, Cary Elwes and Schilling herself – has been recorded, which the film was first shown with on 3 March 2012 at the New York International Children's Film Festival and was released nationally on 24 August 2012 by Hannover House. Jiří Barta
Jiří Barta (born 26 November 1948) is a Czech stop-motion animation director. Many of his films use wood as a medium for animation. Among his notable films are the 1986 film ''The Pied Piper''. In 2007 he released his first computer-animated short film named ''Domečku, vař'' animated in a studio of Alkay Animation and in 2009 he released a new puppet-animated feature film, '' Toys in the Attic''. Biography Jiří Barta was born in Prague. In 1969 he began studying film and TV graphics at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He made the first animated film in 1978 with Jiří Trnka's studio. At the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague he leads the Film and TV Graphics Studio. He was appointed as Associate Professor in 1993 and Professor in 2001. In addition to teaching, he collaborates with theater and film projects. Marcelo Tubert (born February 11, 1952) is an Argentine-born American actor. Biography Early life and career Born in Córdoba, Argentina, Tubert's mother, Miriam Tubert, is an actress who did a great deal of stage work and had her own children's radio show. Tubert's introduction to theatre came at the age of three, in Garcia Lorca's ''Yerma'', when a child actor in a visiting troupe became ill. Věra Kubánková
Věra Kubánková (22 July 1924 – 13 April 2016) was a Czech actress. At the 2006 Thalia Awards she was honoured in the lifetime achievement in theatre category. Barbora Hrzánová (born 22 April 1964) is a Czech actress and musician.
