Toronto Police Service Youth In Policing Initiative
The Toronto Police Service's Youth In Policing Initiative (YIPI) is a program jointly created by Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services, the Toronto Police Services Board and the Toronto Police Service. The summer job program looks to improve the relationship between young people in Toronto's priority neighbourhoods while offering employment and the opportunity for youth to attain and improve teamwork and life skills. Program background Created in 2006 following Toronto's Summer of the Gun, in which 27 people living in and interacting around various inner-city communities were victims of gun violence between June and September 2005, the Youth in Policing Initiative was one of the programs that received a portion of the $210 million distributed for the creation of community and youth programs in the 13 priority neighborhoods by the governments of Ontario and Toronto. Weston is a neighbourhood and former village in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is situated in the northwest of the city, south of Highway 401, east of the Humber River, north of Eglinton Avenue, and west of Jane Street. Weston Road just north of Lawrence Avenue is the commercial core of Weston, with many small businesses and services. Weston was incorporated as a village in the 19th century and was absorbed into the Borough of York in the late 1960s. York itself was amalgamated into Toronto in 1998. Westminster-Branson
Westminster-Branson is a neighbourhood in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is in the northernmost part of the city within the area of North York. Branson is located along Finch Avenue, west of Bathurst Street and east of the west branch of the Don River. Westminster is located just to the north, across the Westminster Cemetery. Flemingdon Park is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located in the city's North York district. Dorset Park is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the western part of the district of Scarborough. Scarborough Junction (also known as Kennedy Park) is a small neighbourhood in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is bordered by Birchmount Road, Brimley Road, Eglinton Avenue, and St. Clair Avenue. Scarbrough Junction has an approximated population of 20,000. Eglinton East
Eglinton East, historically known as Knob Hill, is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is bounded by Stansbury Crescent, Citadel Drive, and West Highland Creek to the north, Midland Avenue to the west, the CNR rail line, Brimley Road, and Eglinton Avenue to the south, and Bellamy Road North to the east.
