Tony Collins (American Football)
Anthony Collins (born May 27, 1959) is a former American football running back. He played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) and the Arena Football League. He played in Super Bowl XX as a member of the New England Patriots. He played college football at East Carolina University. Early years A speedy and powerful runner, Collins first garnered notoriety in high school as a starter on the 1976 New York State Class B Champion Penn Yan Academy Mustangs. He grew up with 15 siblings as one of 16 children. NFL Collins attended East Carolina University and was selected in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Cris Crissy, one of his high school teammates, was also drafted by the Patriots that season. Collins was a Pro Bowl selection in 1983 and he played in Super Bowl XX as a member of the Patriots. Tony Collins (footballer)
Anthony Norman Collins (19 March 1926 – 8 February 2021) was an English football player, manager and scout, who played as a left winger. He managed Rochdale between 1960 and 1967, becoming the first black manager in the Football League and leading them to the 1962 Football League Cup Final, their only major final appearance. Collins played professionally for Sheffield Wednesday, York City, Watford (in two spells), Norwich City, Torquay United and Crystal Palace (where he was the club's first mixed-race player), before ending his playing career at Rochdale. Apart from a spell as assistant manager (and briefly caretaker manager) at Bristol City, he latterly worked mainly in scouting for a number of clubs, including Leeds United and Manchester United, as well as for the England national team. Tony Collins is a British social historian specialising in the history of sport. He is emeritus professor of history at De Montfort University, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Sports Humanities, and in 2018 was a visiting professor at Beijing Sports University. He has written several award-winning books on the history of sport, is the host of the ‘Rugby Reloaded’ history podcast, and is a regular contributor to television and radio programmes. Career In 1999 his first book ''Rugby’s Great Split'', based on his 1996 PhD thesis, won the Aberdare Prize for Sports History Book of the Year. Toni Collins
Antonietta "Toni" Gonzalez-Collins (born November 22, 1985) is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and occasionally, host SportsNation. She joined ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter of the television reporter María Antonieta Collins. Early life and education Collins began playing soccer at the age of 10 and was asked to join Mexico's national team in the under-19 division. She attended St. Brendan High School in Miami, FL. She is a graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in communications, with an emphasis in sports management. She played on the women's soccer team.
