Thomas Hill was Archdeacon of Derby from 1847 to 1873. Hill was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1811 and priest in 1812. He was vicar of Badgeworth from 1821 to 1847 (Crockford's Clerical Directory, 1865 edition). Thomas Hill of Dennis (-1824), also known as Thomas Hill or latterly Thomas Hill I, to distinguish him from his son, was an ironmaster, and the leading partner in the establishment of Blaenavon Ironworks in south east Wales. Early life Thomas Hill was born near Stourbridge around 1736. His father, Waldron, was the brother of another Thomas and Elizabeth who married Humphrey Batchelor (he later inherited Fimbrell glasshouse, the Coalbournhill glass works, and Dennis estate). When Humphrey Batchelor died Elizabeth continued to manage the glassworks with the help of her two brothers. Elizabeth had two children, but they died before she died in 1762. She rewarded her brothers by leaving them most of her wealth, the glass making business and the Dennis estate. Thomas Hill's family included two brothers, Joseph and Waldron, and two sisters, Mary and Sarah. He married Ann Melsup in 1766. Colonel Sir Thomas Noel Hill KCB KTS (24February, 17848January, 1832) was a British Army officer of the Napoleonic Wars who fought at the Battle of Waterloo on 18June, 1815. Life and career Born at Hawkstone Hall, near Hodnet, Shropshire, Hill was the seventh son of Sir John Hill, 3rd Baronet. He was brother to Robert, Clement and Rowland, who would go on to become Commander-in-Chief of the British Army. Educated at Shrewsbury School, he then entered the army on 25September 1801, at the age of seventeen, as a cornet in the 10th (Prince of Wales's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars) and purchased a lieutenancy the following year. Thomas Hill (born 4 March 1974) is an Australian judoka. He won a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics, where he was eliminated in the first bout. Thomas Lionel Hill Jr. (born August 31, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'5" shooting guard, Hill played at Duke University from 1989 to 1993, winning two NCAA Championships (1991 and 1992). His teammates at Duke included Grant Hill (no relation), Christian Laettner, and Bobby Hurley. Thomas Hill received Third Team All-ACC honors in 1991,1992, 1993 and was a team captain during his senior season. He played in 141 career games for Duke, 6th on their all-time list as of March 28, 2010; directly behind Jon Scheyer, and tied with Brian Davis. After graduating, Hill was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the 2nd round (#39 pick overall) of the 1993 NBA draft. Hill never played an NBA regular season game but he did play in preseason games where he scored a high of 14. Thomas Lionel "Tom" Hill (born November 17, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American former athlete, who mainly competed in the 110 metre hurdles. Competitive career Hill was among the world's best high hurdlers in the early 1970s and ranked as the number one in the event in the world in 1970. He was on the June 1970 cover of ''Track and Field News.'' He competed for the United States in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Germany, where he won the bronze medal in the men's 110 metre hurdles event. Hill ran track for Arkansas State University where his best finish at the NCAA Championships was a second place in 1972. He was the 1970 NCAA Indoor Champion for 60 yard hurdles. After graduating, Hill completed his ROTC active duty obligation serving as assistant track coach at the United States Military Academy at West Point while still competing in the hurdles. Thomas Seymour Hill (21 February 1893 – 1 August 1977), invariably referred to as T. S. Hill, was a leading Australian rules football administrator in the SANFL between 1926 and 1963. History Hill was born at Beulah road, Norwood, close to Norwood Oval, and went to school in Marryatville. His first employment was ten years in the wheat trade with Dalgety & Co., followed by Norman & Co. Thomas Hill (born 1901) was an English professional footballer who played as a right half. He was also known as Tommy Hill and Tom Hill. Career Born in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, Hill signed for Bradford City in October 1921 after playing with Bolton United, leaving the club in July 1924 to sign for Walsall.
