The Meertens Institute (Dutch ''Meertens Instituut'') in Amsterdam is a research institute for Dutch language and culture within the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (''Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen'' or KNAW). Tjeerd Sicco van Albada (born 14 October 1936) is a Dutch astronomer and emeritus professor of Astronomy at the University of Groningen. Career Van Albada was born on 14 October 1936 in Akkrum. He obtained his PhD in mathematics and natural sciences from the University of Groningen in 1968. He was lecturer of astronomy at the same university between 1971 and 1979. In 1980 he became professor of Astronomy, and worked at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute. He took up emeritus status in 2001. Van Albada became a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1984. Tjeerd (Tsjeard) Bottema (6 February 1884 in Langezwaag – 8 March 1978 in Katwijk) was a Dutch painter, illustrator and book cover designer. Biography Bottema was a student at Kunstnijverheidsschool Quellinus and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. He was a student of August Allebé, Antoon Derkinderen, George Sturm and Nicolaas van der Waay. Winning the Dutch Prix de Rome in 1907 allowed him to make several trips to art including Italy, Spain, Morocco, France England and Belgium. After graduation he worked from 1911 to 1919 in Laren. Then he settled in Katwijk aan Zee, where he lived until his death in 1978. Bottema was also a commercial artist and illustrator. As an illustrator he made the drawings for the novels of the Dutch Protestant writers Anne de Vries and W.G. van der Hulst, but he also made drawings for the socialist satiric magazine ''De Ware Jacob''. Tjeerd-Pieter David Oosterhuis (; born 25 December 1971), also known as TJ Oosterhuis, is a Dutch musician, songwriter and producer known internationally for his chart topping work with Madcon, Kelly Rowland and Estelle. Tjeerd (Theo) Daniel van Scheltinga (6 March 1914, Amsterdam – 30 July 1994) was a Dutch chess player. FIDE awarded him the International Master title in 1950. Van Scheltinga was one of the leading Dutch players from 1936 to the late 1950s. In 1936 he was third in the Dutch Championship, and he tied for first with Max Euwe in 1947, but lost the playoff 2.5–5.5. He won Hoogovens in 1944 and 1947 and placed 2nd in 1948 and 2nd= in 1949.
