Thusis (Rhaetian Railway Station)
Thusis railway station is a railway station in Thusis, Switzerland. It is the junction of the Albula Railway, Albula and Landquart–Thusis railway, Landquart–Thusis lines of the Rhaetian Railway. The renovated railway station was inaugurated in 1995 and is adorned with three bronze sculptures of Robert Indermaur, a “Sitting Lady waiting for the train", "An elder man waving" and "A young man rushing towards the station". Thusis
Thusis ( it, Tosana, '' Romansh: Tusàn'') is a municipality in the Viamala Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. On 1 January 2018 the former municipality of Mutten merged into the municipality of Thusis. History Thusis is first mentioned in 1156 as ''Tosana''. The town was devastated by more than 10 fires and after the one of 1845, it had to be rebuilt. Geography Thusis has an area, , of . Of this area, 18% is used for agricultural purposes, while 58.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 15.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (8.6%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). Rhaetian Railway
The Rhaetian Railway (german: Rhätische Bahn; it, Ferrovia retica; rm, Viafier retica), abbreviated RhB, is a Swiss transport company that owns the largest network of all private railway operators in Switzerland. The Albula Railway (german: Albulalinie; it, Linea dell'Albula; rm, Lingia da l'Alvra) is a single track metre gauge railway line forming part of the so-called core network of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Robert Indermaur
Robert Indermaur (born 9 June 1947) is a Swiss painter and sculptor. Originally trained as a schoolteacher, Indermaur became a freelance artist in 1969, producing contemporary paintings and sculptures. He rose to prominence in the 1970s, and created pieces for public spaces in both Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Indermaur also ran the Klibühni Schnidrzunft, a regional theatre in Chur, for ten years with his wife and children, including the actress Rebecca Indermaur. Personal life Robert Indermaur was born on 9 June 1947 in Chur, Switzerland, the second of three children. He is a member of the In der Maur family. He attended the Bündner Lehrerseminar school in Chur and in 1967 graduated from a teaching seminar course. Upon graduation, he traveled around Europe, Asia, and Africa.
