Alessandro Blasetti
Alessandro Blasetti (3 July 1900 – 1 February 1987) was an Italian film director and screenwriter who influenced Italian neorealism with the film ''Quattro passi fra le nuvole''. Blasetti was one of the leading figures in Italian cinema during the Fascist era. He is sometimes known as the "father of Italian cinema" because of his role in reviving the struggling industry in the late 1920s. Early life Blasetti was born in Rome, where he also died. After studying law at university, Blasetti chose to become a journalist and film critic. He worked for several film magazines and led a campaign for national film production, which had largely ceased by this point. In 1919 he made a brief foray into acting when he appeared as an extra in Mario Caserini's ''Tortured Soul''. Gianrico Tedeschi (20 April 1920 – 27 July 2020) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Life and career Born in Milan in April 1920, Tedeschi got a degree in pedagogy before enrolling at the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art, which he abandoned after two years to make his professional debut with the Evi Maltagliati-Salvo Randone-Tino Carraro stage company. In the late 1940s he entered the Andreina Pagnani-Gino Cervi theatrical company, with whom he got his first personal success for his performance in the comedy play ''Quel signore che venne a pranzo''. He later worked intensively with Luchino Visconti and with the Piccolo Teatro directed by Giorgio Strehler. He also toured in the United States, the Soviet Union, Paris and London. In his variegated career, Tedeschi was very active as a voice actor, a dubber and a radio personality, and starting from the early 1950s he appeared in numerous films and TV series, even if often playing supporting roles. Michel Serrault (24 January 1928 – 29 July 2007) was a French stage and film actor who appeared from 1954 until 2007 in more than 130 films. Life and career His first professional job was in a touring production in Germany of Molière's '' Les Fourberies de Scapin''. In 1948, he began his career in the theatre with Robert Dhéry in '' Les Branquignols''. His first film was '' Ah! Les belles bacchantes'', starring Robert Dhéry, Colette Brosset (Dhéry's then-wife), and Louis de Funès; directed by Jean Loubignac in 1954. Serrault played in the 1955 suspense thriller '' Les diaboliques'', starring Simone Signoret and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. From February 1973 through 1978, he portrayed the role of Albin/Zaza opposite Jean Poiret in the play '' La cage aux folles'', written by Poiret. Jean Poiret, born Jean Poiré (17 August 1926 – 14 March 1992), was a French actor, director, and screenwriter. He is primarily known as the author of the original play '' La Cage aux Folles''. Early career Poiret was born in Paris, and first rose to prominence in 1951 playing the role of Fred Transport, one of the heroes of Pierre Dac and Francis Blanche's radio series ''Malheur aux Barbus''. In 1952, he met his future co-star of ''La Cage'' Michel Serrault at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre. Together, they starred in the sketch "Jerry Scott, Vedette Internationale".
