Thomas Blake (1597?–1657) was an English Puritan clergyman and controversialist of moderate Presbyterian sympathies. He worked in Tamworth, Staffordshire and in Shrewsbury, from which he was ejected over the Engagement controversy. Thomas Blake (tennis)
Thomas Blake, Jr. (born December 29, 1976) is an American former professional tennis player. Blake was born in Yonkers, New York to Thomas Sr. (who is African-American) and Betty (who is Caucasian?-English). He has a younger brother, James Blake, who was also a professional tennis player, as well as three half-brothers, Jason, Howard and Christopher, and a half-sister, Michelle. Blake grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut and attended Fairfield Warde High School. A graduate of Harvard University, he became a professional tennis player in 1996. He competed in the US Open doubles in 1999 and 2002, both times partnering his brother James. He has played on the ATP Tour, appearing in such tournaments as the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships and Legg Mason Tennis Classic, both in 2003. He currently resides in Tampa, Florida. Thomas Blake (9 November 1825 – 31 March 1901) was an English Liberal politician. Blake was the youngest son of William Blake, of Ross on Wye. He was chairman of the Ross School Board, to which he was elected four times. Blake stood for parliament unsuccessfully in Herefordshire at the 1868. He was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Leominster at a by-election in February 1876, and held the seat until his defeat in 1880. Thomas Gage Blake (10 April 1805 – 1895) was an English cricketer. Blake's batting style is unknown, though it is known he fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Midhurst, Sussex. Blake made his first-class debut for an England XI against Surrey in 1829. The following season he made two first-class appearances for Suffolk, against the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's, and against the same opposition at Field Lane, Bury St Edmunds. In that same season he made two first-class appearances for Sussex, with both appearances coming against Surrey at The Burys, Godalming and Midhurst Cricket Ground. In 1832, he made two first-class appearances for the Marylebone Cricket Club, with both appearances coming against the Cambridge Town Club at Chatteris Cricket Ground and Parker's Piece, Cambridge. Catman (DC Comics)
Catman (Thomas Reese Blake) is a character appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. He is part of Batman’s growing roster of enemies, debuting in the mid-1960s. For decades, the character rarely appeared in comic books, as Batman stories returned to darker themes. A modern revival of the character in the pages of '' Green Arrow'' many years later depicted a Catman down on his luck, clinging to past glories, overweight, and pathetic. In 2006, however, the character was rehabilitated by writer Gail Simone, depicting Blake as having picked himself up from the gutter, restoring his physical fitness and gaining a new sense of purpose and dignity while living with lions in Africa. Thomas Edward Blake (March 8, 1902 – May 5, 1994) was an American athlete, inventor, and writer, widely considered to be one of the most influential surfers in history, and a key figure in transforming surfing from a regional Hawaiian specialty to a nationally popular sport. Sir Thomas Blake, 2nd Baronet
Sir Thomas Blake, 2nd Baronet, died 1642. Biography Blake was the eldest son of Sir Valentine Blake, 1st Baronet and his first wife, Margaret, daughter of Robuck French. Blake was Sheriff with his father, though the latter was removed from office for refusing the oath of supremacy in 1611. He was Mayor of Galway for the term 1637–38. He was an alderman, and MP for the town in 1634–35. Blake was killed in the town when a cannon, built by its citizens, exploded, killing him and a number of others. He married Juliane Browne, daughter of Geoffrey, and was succeeded by his son, Valentine, in 1642. He had three other sons and several daughters. Thomas Blake Glover (6 June 1838 – 16 December 1911) was a Scottish merchant in the Bakumatsu and Meiji period in Japan. Early life (1838–1858) Thomas Blake Glover was born at 15 Commerce Street, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire in northeast Scotland on 6 June 1838, the fifth of eight children, to Thomas Berry Glover (1806-1878), a coastguard officer from Vauxhall, London and Mary Findlay (1807-1887) from the parish of Fordyce, Banffshire. Thomas Blake Glover spent the first six years of his life in Fraserburgh, which was fast expanding as a fishing and trading port. In 1844, the family moved first to coastguard stations at Grimsby, then Collieston in Aberdeenshire, then finally to the Bridge of Don, by Aberdeen, Thomas senior having by this time been promoted to Chief Coastguard Officer. The office of Mayor of Galway is an honorific title used by the of Galway City Council. The council has jurisdiction throughout its administrative area of the city of Galway which is the largest city in the province of Connacht, in Ireland. The current mayor is Clodagh Higgins, ( FG). Election to the office The Mayor is elected to office annually by Councillors of Galway City Council from amongst its members. There is no popular vote.
