The Wedding Song (1925 Film)
''The Wedding Song'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Alan Hale and starring Leatrice Joy, Robert Ames, and Charles K. Gerrard. It is based upon the novel of the same name by Ethel Watts Mumford. Plot As described in a film magazine review, a young pearl fisher leaves his native island for the first time to go to San Francisco and dispose of the fortune in South Sea pearls he has gathered. On the steamer bound to San Francisco he meets and falls in love with a woman who is a member of a band of crooks who pose as her relatives. The pearler marries her, but she and her confederates are after the pearls. Following a series of adventures in which the woman is wounded with a gun, she learns that she really loves her husband. She warns him of a plot against his life in time to save him and they are reunited. Alan Hale Sr
Alan Hale Sr. (born Rufus Edward Mackahan; February 10, 1892 – January 22, 1950) was an American actor and director. He is best remembered for his many character roles, in particular as a frequent sidekick of Errol Flynn, as well as films supporting Lon Chaney, Wallace Beery, Douglas Fairbanks, James Cagney, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, and Ronald Reagan. Hale was usually billed as Alan Hale and his career in film lasted 40 years. His son, Alan Hale Jr., also became an actor and remains most famous for playing " the Skipper" on the television series ''Gilligan's Island''. Ruby Lafayette (July 22, 1844 – April 3, 1935) was an American film actress, known for ''Sue of the South'' (1919), ''Big Bob'' (1921) and ''The Man Trap'' (1917). She was married to John T. Curran. The UCLA Film & Television Archive is a visual arts organization focused on the preservation, study, and appreciation of film and television, based at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Casson Ferguson
Casson Ferguson (May 29, 1891 – February 12, 1929) was an American film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1917 and 1928. His father was John J. Ferguson, a jeweler in Alexandria, Louisiana. Early in his career Casson was a member of the Mantel Shakespeare Players in New Orleans before moving to California to pursue a movie career, first with the Seelig Company, then as a leading man. In 1928 he toured Europe and performed as a singer and actor in London and Paris. Returning to California, he married Catherine Mallon. Not long after he died of pneumonia at the age of 38; two days later his wife Catherine also died of pneumonia, and her mother soon died of pneumonia. Gladden James (February 26, 1888 – August 28, 1948) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 180 films between 1911 and 1946. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio and died in Hollywood, California, from leukemia. Ethel Wales (April 4, 1878 – February 15, 1952) was an American actress who appeared in more than 130 films during her 30-year career. Biography Born in 1878 in Passaic, New Jersey, Wales graduated from "Wisconsin university". Wales had a multifaceted professional relationship with Cecil DeMille and William deMille, beginning with her acting in their plays in the eastern United States. When the brothers moved to Hollywood and began working with films, Wales was their secretary and casting director. In 1927, Cecil De Mille signed her to a long-term contract to act in films.
