The Ultimate Collection (The Seekers Album)
The Seekers were an Australian folk music group formed in 1962 consisting of Athol Guy, Keith Potger, Bruce Woodley and Judith Durham. The quartet were first active from 1962 to 1968 when Durham left to pursue a solo career. The group re-formed in 1975 and recruited Louisa Wisseling to provide vocals, but disbanded again in 1978. In 1988, the group re-formed with Julie Anthony (singer), Julie Anthony and then (from 1990-91) Karen Knowles providing vocals. In 1993, Durham reunited with original members Guy, Potger and Woodley, and they have toured on and off since then. The Seekers
The Seekers were an Australian folk-influenced pop quartet, originally formed in Melbourne in 1962. They were the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were especially popular during the 1960s with their best-known configuration of Judith Durham on vocals, piano and tambourine; Athol Guy on double bass and vocals; Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar, banjo and vocals; and Bruce Woodley on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals. The group had Top 10 hits in the 1960s with "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day", " Georgy Girl" and " The Carnival Is Over". Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described their style as "concentrated on a bright, uptempo sound, although they were too pop to be considered strictly folk and too folk to be rock". ''Future Road'' is a studio album credited to Australian recording artist Judith Durham and The Seekers. It is Durham's eighth studio album and The Seekers' eleventh. The album was released in Australia in October 1997 and peaked at number 4 on the ARIA Charts and by Christmas was certified platinum. Live On (The Seekers Album)
''Live On'' is the tenth studio album from The Seekers. The album is the only Seekers' album to feature the vocals of Australian singer, Julie Anthony. Background In October 1988, The Seekers re-formed and sang " The Carnival is Over" to close the World Expo 88 in Brisbane. The lead singer of The Seekers, Judith Durham was not available and was replaced by Julie Anthony. Following the performance, the group signed with Polydor Records and re-recorded some of the group's biggest hits with Anthony's vocals, along with several new songs written by group member Bruce Woodley. Astor Records
Astor Records was an Australian recorded music manufacturer and distributor that operated from the early 1960s to the early 1980s. Astor was the trade name of the consumer electronics manufacturer Radio Corporation Pty. Ltd, a division of Electronic Industries Ltd., which also made Astor radios, radiograms and television sets. The company expanded into record production in mid-1960, and operated its own vinyl record pressing plant in Melbourne. The company's inaugural release was the single "Speak Low"/"Come Closer to Me" by Philippine-born vocalist Pilita Corrales (credited as Pilita). ''The Seekers'' is the seventh studio album by Australian group the Seekers. The album was released in May 1975. Louisa Wisseling provided the vocals. It was the first The Seekers' album not to feature the vocals of Judith Durham. The lead single "Sparrow Song" was released in May 1975, peaking at number 7 on the Kent Music Report. A second single "Reunion" was released in November 1975 and peaked at number 83. Background The Seekers had been a successful group in the 1960s, disbanding in July 1968 when lead singer Judith Durham left the group. ''Seekers Seen in Green'' is the sixth studio album by the Australian group The Seekers. It was released in the UK and Europe in 1967 by Columbia Records and EMI Records. It was released in Canada in 1967 and in the US in 1968 by Capitol Records. (The American release replaced "On The Other Side" with Kenny Young's "When Will the Good Apples Fall," their last big British hit.)
