Sweeper
Sweepers are small, tropical marine (occasionally brackish) perciform fish of the family Pempheridae. Found in the western Atlantic Ocean and Indo-Pacific region, the family contains about 26 species in two genera. One species (''Pempheris xanthoptera'') is the target of subsistence fisheries in Japan, where the fish is much enjoyed for its taste. Sweepers are occasionally kept in marine aquaria. Description Deeply keeled, compressed bodies and large eyes typify sweepers, their form somewhat like hatchetfish; both cycloid and ctenoid scales may be present. The small, short dorsal fin begins before the body's midpoint and may have four to seven spines; the anal fin is extensive and usually has three spines. The mouth is subterminal and strongly oblique. Species of the genus ''Parapriacanthus'' have much more cylindrical bodies. Some species possess photophores. All but the curved sweeper (''Pempheris poeyi'') possess a gas bladder. The Sweepers (poem)
"The Sweepers" is a poem written by Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936), and set to music by the English composer Edward Elgar in 1917, as the fourth of a set of four war-related songs on nautical subjects for which he chose the title "The Fringes of the Fleet". Like the others in the cycle, it is intended for four baritone voices: a solo and chorus. It was originally written with orchestral accompaniment, but was later published to be sung with piano accompaniment. The poem was called by Kipling ''"Mine Sweepers"'', and is about the British ships called minesweepers which cleared the seas of enemy mines in World War I. T. S. ''The Sweepers'' is a two- act play written by John C. Picardi. A dramatic comedy set in the Italian-American neighborhood of North End, Boston, the play centers around the lives of three women towards the end of World War II. ''The Sweepers'' premiered Off-Broadway at the Urban Stages theater in New York in 2002, where it was directed by Frances Hill. In his review of the original production, Lawrence Van Gelder of '' The New York Times'' complimented the cast, production values and Picardi's writing, which Van Gelder felt "renders his characters timeless." ''Sweepers'' is a 1998 American-South African action film directed by Keoni Waxman and starring Dolph Lundgren, Claire Stansfield and Bruce Payne. Plot Christian Erickson (Dolph Lundgren) used to work as a leading demolition expert. As Erickson was working to disarm mines, his son was killed by one, and Erickson retired. He is called out of retirement to help Michelle Flynn (Claire Stansfield) to disarm mine fields in a humanitarian minesweeping operation in Angola. Erickson subsequently discovers that new mines are being planted to kill people in the area. Sweeper (Black Cat)
The ''Black Cat (manga), Black Cat'' manga series features characters created by Kentaro Yabuki. The story follows a young man named Train Heartnet who withdrew from an elite group of assassins called the Chronos Numbers two years earlier and is now a Sweeper, or bounty hunter. Many of the characters are humans with superhuman strength, speed and/or supernatural abilities. ''Black Cat''s anime adaptation features some characters not created by Yabuki, as well as many plot differences.
