BBC Scotland
BBC Scotland is a division of the BBC and the main public broadcaster in Scotland. Its headquarters are in Glasgow, employing approximately 1,250 staff as of 2017, to produce 15,000 hours of television and radio programming per year. BBC Scotland operates television channels such as the Scottish variant of BBC One, the BBC Scotland channel and the Gaelic-language channel BBC Alba, and radio stations BBC Radio Scotland and Gaelic-language BBC Radio nan Gàidheal. BBC One
BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is the corporation's oldest and flagship channel, and is known for broadcasting mainstream programming, which includes BBC News television bulletins, primetime drama and entertainment, and live BBC Sport events. The channel was launched on 2 November 1936 under the name BBC Television Service, which was the world's first regular television service with a high level of image resolution. It was renamed BBC TV in 1960 and used this name until the launch of the second BBC channel, BBC2, in 1964. The main channel then became known as BBC1. Colette O'Neil
Mary Irene Colette Ellis ( McCrossan, 18 November 1935 – 11 July 2021), better known by the stage name Colette O'Neil, was a Scottish actress, noted for her various roles on British television. Life and career O'Neil was a semi-regular cast member of ''Coronation Street'' in the mid-1960s as Ruth Winter, and also made frequent guest appearances in series such as ''Z-Cars'', ''Dixon of Dock Green'', ''Adam Adamant Lives!'', ''No Hiding Place'' and '' Softly, Softly''. Tom Watson (actor)
Thomas Welsh Watson (21 March 1932 – 18 August 2001) was a Scottish-born stage, television and film actor. Early life Watson was born on 21 March 1932 at Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland. His family later moved to Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, and he studied at the Hamilton Academy, where he excelled in amateur dramatics. Career Following National Service with the Royal Scots, Watson joined the Rutherglen Repertory, a semi-professional theatre company. In 1956 he joined the Byre Theatre in St Andrews, Scotland, before moving on to Perth Repertory Theatre. There he met his future wife, the actress Joyce Bain.
