The Shelters
The Shelters are a rock band formed in 2015 in Los Angeles, California by Chase Simpson, Josh Jové, and Sebastian Harris. All members had previously played in the band Automatik Slim. Tom Petty took an interest in the band and gave them the keys to his home studio, offering a listening ear and advice on whatever they were working on. They spent countless hours in his studio, working both on their own and with Petty. Both Jové and Simpson have credit on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’s 2014 album ''Hypnotic Eye'' and on Mudcrutch's 2016 album ''2 (Mudcrutch album)''. Mudcrutch
Mudcrutch was an American southern and country rock band from Gainesville, Florida. They are best known for being the band that began Tom Petty's rise to fame. Mudcrutch formed in Gainesville in 1970 and soon became a popular act across Florida. The band moved to Los Angeles in 1974 to attract the attention of a record company. Though they signed a contract with Shelter Records, they released only one poor-selling single before breaking up in 1975. The following year, former Mudcrutch members Petty, Mike Campbell, and Benmont Tench formed the core of a new band, the Heartbreakers. Most of the original Mudcrutch lineup reformed in 2007 to record their first album as a group, which was followed by a tour. A second album followed in 2016. Petty's death in 2017 effectively dissolved the group again. ''Mudcrutch 2'' (or simply ''2'') is the second and final studio album by American rock band Mudcrutch, released on May 20, 2016 and was the last recorded studio material by Tom Petty before his death in 2017. ''Hypnotic Eye'' is the thirteenth and final studio album by American rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, released in the UK on July 28, 2014 and in the United States on July 29, by Reprise Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' 200, becoming the only Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album ever to top the chart. ''Hypnotic Eye'' was nominated for the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. It would also be the Heartbreakers' final studio album before disbanding in 2017, following Petty's death in October of that same year.
