The Secret Of The Swamp
''The Secret of the Swamp'' is a 1916 American Drama (film and television), drama film written and directed by Lynn Reynolds. The film stars George Hernandez, Myrtle Gonzalez, Fred Church (actor), Fred Church, Frank MacQuarrie, Val Paul and Countess Du Cello. Plot Chet Wells, a poor farmer who rents land from Deacon Todd, falls in love with neighbor Emily Burke, who often comes to his farmhouse to look after Chet's invalid mother. However, Emily's father wants her to marry Allan Waite, a local man of means. Chet's hopeless situation becomes even moreso when his mother dies and the deacon turns him out of his house, so he abandons his love for Emily and leaves for the timberlands with hopes of making his fortune. Lynn Reynolds
Lynn Fairfield Reynolds (May 7, 1889 – February 25, 1927) was an American director and screenwriter. Reynolds directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 58 films between 1914 and 1927. Reynolds was born in Harlan, Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head. Jack Curtis (May 28, 1880 – March 16, 1956) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 150 films between 1915 and 1950. He was born in San Francisco, California, and died in Hollywood, California. Curtis performed on stage and in vaudeville before he began working in films in 1915. Curtis was married to actress Anna Chandler. Their daughter, Beatrice Antoinette Curtis, performed in vaudeville. Lule Warrenton (June 22, 1862 – May 14, 1932) was an American actress, director, and producer during the silent film era. She appeared in more than 80 films between 1913 and 1922. She was born in Flint, Michigan and died in Laguna Beach, California and was the mother of cinematographer Gilbert Warrenton. Early life Warrenton was born to a production manager father. Under the supervision of her uncle, Sheridan Corbyn, Warrenton had played child parts and had been and continued to be on stage and in motion pictures for most of her life. Warrenton attended St. Rose's Convent and later studied at the University of Michigan. Following her time at Michigan, Warrenton began her stage career as an elocutionist at the University of Notre Dame. She later progressed into a Shakespearian reader, performing in her first show at Victoria Rifle's Armory in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
