The Mark Of The Beast (film)
''The Mark of the Beast'' ( nl, Het teken van het beest) is a 1980 Dutch drama film directed by Pieter Verhoeff. It is based on the life of IJje Wijkstra who in 1929 murdered four police officers. The film won the first Golden Calf for Best Feature Film award at the 1981 Netherlands Film Festival. Marja Kok also won the Golden Calf for Best Actress for her role in the film. Plot Mason IJje Wijkstra starts a relationship with Aaltje Botter, a married woman with 6 children, in a time when adulatory was illegal. Pieter Verhoeff
Pieter Verhoeff (4 February 1938 – 17 April 2019) was a Dutch film director. He studied at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy and graduated in 1966. He is known for his films '' The Mark of the Beast'', '' The Dream'' and '' The Moving True Story of a Woman Ahead of Her Time''. All three stories take place in his native Friesland. He won two Golden Calf's in his career. Gerardus Bernardus Marie Cornelis (Gerard) Thoolen (14 February 1943, in Oss – 12 October 1996, in Amsterdam) was a Dutch stage and film actor best known for his role in the film '' Private Resistance'' (1985). Career Thoolen played his first leading role in 1980 in the film'' The Mark of the Beast'' by Pieter Verhoeff. The Netherlands Film Festival ( nl, Nederlands Film Festival) is an annual film festival, held in September and October of each year in the city of Utrecht. Peter Faber (born 9 October 1943, in Schwarzenbach an der Saale, Germany) is a Dutch stage, television and film actor. Biography Faber was born in Germany, to a set of parents who beat him regularly; he was rebellious from an early age. They moved to Amsterdam-Noord when he was six. His mother left with another man, and his father had to make do working whatever job was available. At sixteen, Faber left home and roamed around for a while. Early career Faber was co-founder of Het Werkteater and twice won a Louis d'Or for his roles in '' Het Koekoeksnest'' and '' Avondrood''.
