''The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter'' is a 1980 documentary film and the first movie made by Connie Field about the American women who went to work during World War II to do "men's jobs." In 1996, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Summary The film's title refers to "Rosie the Riveter", the cultural icon that represented women who worked the manufacturing plants which produced munitions and material during World War II. Margaret F. Wright ( Nusom; December 15, 1921 — May 11, 1996) was a third-party candidate for President of the United States and a community activist in Los Angeles, California. Wright was a shipyard worker during World War II, and one of the principals of the film ''The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter.'' In the 1976 United States presidential election, Wright represented the People's Party, and her running mate was Benjamin Spock, who had been their presidential candidate in 1972. Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park is a United States national historical park located in Richmond, California, near San Francisco. The park preserves and interprets the legacy of the United States home front during World War II, including the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards, the Victory ship SS '' Red Oak Victory'', a tank factory, housing developments and other facilities built to support America's entry into World War II. In particular, the role of women and African-Americans in war industries is explored and honored.
