The Knife (1967 Film)
The Knife were a Swedish electronic music duo from Gothenburg, formed in 1999. The group consisted of siblings Karin and Olof Dreijer, who together also run their own record company, Rabid Records. They gained a large international following in response to their 2003 album '' Deep Cuts''. The duo's first tour took place in 2006, along with the release of their critically acclaimed album ''Silent Shout''. They have won a number of Swedish Grammis, but refuse to attend awards ceremonies. They have appeared in public wearing Venetian masks. As Fever Ray, Karin released their self-titled solo album in 2009, while Olof released several EPs as Oni Ayhun in late 2009 and early 2010. The Knife disbanded in November 2014 after releasing their acclaimed 2013 album '' Shaking the Habitual'' and completing its attendant tour. Fever Ray
Karin Elisabeth Dreijer (born 7 April 1975) is a Swedish singer-songwriter and record producer. Dreijer was one half of the electronic music duo the Knife, formed with their brother Olof Dreijer. Dreijer released their debut solo album under the alias Fever Ray in January 2009. Their second studio album, '' Plunge'', under the same alias, was released in October 2017. Dreijer's vocal style is notable for both shrill and deep tones, and also the use of multitracked vocals, with different uses of pitch-shifting technology on each track, creating an intricate and mysterious effect. Visually, they employ the use of masks, face and body paint, intricate costumes, and other theatrical elements in photo shoots, videos and live performances, during which they often perform behind a gauze screen that partially obscures the audience's view. It was released in Sweden on 27 December 2002 as the lead single from their second studio album '' Deep Cuts'' (2003) and re-released on 4 October 2004. The song was listed at number 15 on Pitchfork Media's top 500 songs of the 2000s and at number 87 on ''Rolling Stones top 100 songs of the 2000s. In October 2011, '' NME'' placed it at number 95 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years". Adjectives used to describe the music were "haunting" and "electro". José Gabriel González (born 31 July 1978) is a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist from Gothenburg. González is also a member of the band Junip, along with Tobias Winterkorn. Early life and education The González family – made up of González's father, a National University of San Luis psychology student, González's mother, a fellow student studying biochemistry, both of whom were politically active, and González's older sister, then an infant – fled Argentina after the military coup d'état in March 1976, at the start of the "Dirty War". Escaping to Brazil, they were granted asylum by the Swedish consulate in Rio de Janeiro, and relocated to Gothenburg in 1977. José was born a year later, in the Haga district of Gothenburg. Honey Is Cool
Honey Is Cool were a Swedish indie rock band from Gothenburg, formed in 1994. The band's final line-up consisted of Karin Dreijer (vocals, guitar), John Jern (guitar), Staffan Larsson (bass), Tina Weibull (keyboards, synthesisers), and Fredrik Wennerlund (drums). History 'For the Sun' was one of the band's first songs, recorded in 1994, but never released commercially. A recording can be heard on Youtube. They recorded a demo and were signed by Sun Spot. Their first EP ''Focky Focky No Pay'' was released in 1996. The new drummer on the record was Håkan Hellström from Broder Daniel. After the ''Focky Focky No Pay'' was well-received, Honey Is Cool signed on to MVG and released ''Crazy Love'' in 1997. This album also got very good reviews but was not a commercial success.
