The Junction
The Junction is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is near the West Toronto Diamond, a junction of four railway lines in the area. The neighbourhood was previously an independent city called West Toronto, that was also its own federal electoral district until amalgamating with the city of Toronto in 1909. The main intersection of the area is Dundas Street West and Keele Street. The Stockyards is the northeastern quadrant of the neighbourhood. History As with most Toronto neighbourhoods outside of the central downtown core, the area was primarily rural until the 1870s. John Scarlett was the first land owner and employer in the area and built his home "Runnymede" in 1838, near where Dundas Street West and St. John's Road meet today. By 1817 he had acquired most of property that is now the Junction and much more to the north and west to the Humber River. The Junction, New South Wales
The Junction is a small, inner city suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, located southwest of Newcastle's central business district. It was originally part of Merewether, which is reflected in the names of some of the suburb's establishments, but was gazetted as a suburb on 17 May 1991. At the 2016 census The Junction had a population of around 1,000. Education The Junction has two schools, both of which cater to Primary students. The Junction Public School was established in 1872 on land donated by Mr Edward Charles Merewether. It suffered significant damage during the 1989 Newcastle earthquake and much of the school had to be demolished. St Joseph's Primary School in Farquhar St is a Catholic school that was established in 1885. Flatbush Avenue is a major avenue in the New York City Borough of Brooklyn. It runs from the Manhattan Bridge south-southeastward to Jamaica Bay, where it joins the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, which connects Brooklyn to the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. South end in Sheepshead Bay Nostrand Avenue () is a major street in Brooklyn, New York, that runs for north from Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay to Flushing Avenue in Williamsburg, where it continues as Lee Avenue. It occupies the position of East 30th Street in the Brooklyn street grid. It is named after Gerret Noorstrandt whose family was one of the first families that settled in New Utrecht, Brooklyn, when New York was still a Dutch colony. The Junction is an indie rock band formed in 2000 from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. They signed to Universal Music in 2006 but later split from the label and went on to release recordings on their own independent label. History The Junction formed in Brampton in 2000. Jackson and Taylor were classmates for years when they finally discovered that both of them played instruments during the ninth grade. Jameson later saw the band play at a Battle of the Bands after Jackson had transferred to Mayfield Secondary School. Amidst having several members come and go, the band released three EPs before signing with Universal Music. The first two EPs, ''White and Orange'' and ''Three Singles'' were recorded by Greg Dawson.
