The George Pal Memorial Award
The George Pal Memorial Award is presented each year, by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, in conjunction with their annual Saturn Award ceremony. The award is given to those who have shown exemplary work in the respective film genres. It is named in honor of George Pal, a Hungary, Hungarian-born United States, American animator and film producer, principally associated with the science fiction genre. Academy Of Science Fiction, Fantasy And Horror Films
The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films is an American non-profit organization established in 1972 dedicated to the advancement of science fiction, fantasy, and Horror fiction, horror in film, television, and home video. The Academy is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and was founded by Dr. Donald A. Reed. The Academy distributes its Saturn Awards annually to what it considers the best films of the genres. The award was initially and is still sometimes loosely referred to as a Golden Scroll. The Academy also publishes ''Saturn Rings,'' its official organ. William Friedkin
William David Friedkin (; August 29, 1935 – August 7, 2023) was an American film, television and opera director, producer, and screenwriter who was closely identified with the "New Hollywood" movement of the 1970s. Beginning his career in documentaries in the early 1960s, he is best known for his crime thriller film ''The French Connection (film), The French Connection'' (1971), which won five Academy Awards, including Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Picture and Academy Award for Best Director, Best Director, and the horror film ''The Exorcist'' (1973), which earned him another Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Samuel is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the Kingdom of Israel (united monarchy), United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. Kathleen Kennedy (born June 5, 1953) is an American film producer who has been president of Lucasfilm since 2012. In 1981, Kennedy co-founded the production company Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and her eventual husband Frank Marshall. Her first film as a producer was '' E.T.'' (1982). Gene Warren
Gene Warren Sr. (August 12, 1916 – July 17, 1997) was born in Denver, Colorado, and won an Academy Award for the special effects on George Pal's ''The Time Machine'' in 1960. He also contributed to such projects as '' The Way of Peace'' (1947), '' Land of the Lost'' (1974), '' Man from Atlantis'', and '' The Crow: City of Angels''.
