The French Theater Of Gustav III
The French Theater of Gustav III was a French language theater active in Sweden between 1781 and 1792. The French theater company performed both before the Swedish royal court in the theaters of the royal palaces, as well as before the Swedish public in Stockholm. It is known to have played a significant part in the education of the pioneer generation of actors at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. The French theater was composed in Paris by Jacques Marie Boutet de Monvel in 1781, when it was engaged by king Gustav III of Sweden to perform before the Swedish royal court. Initially, they performed exclusively for the royal court in the theaters of the royal residences, such as Drottningholm Palace Theatre and Confidencen. From 1783 onward, they also performed before the Swedish public at Bollhuset. Du Londel Troupe
The Du Londel Troupe was a French 18th-century theatre troupe. From 1753 to 1771, it was active as the French Theatre of Sweden, where it played a great part in that country's theatre history. The French troupe performed in Copenhagen in Denmark in 1748–53. They also performed in Oslo in Norway during the king's stay there in 1749. The troupe was under the leadership of Jeanne Du Londel, widow of Jean Du Londel, and Pierre de Laynay in 1753, when they were invited to Sweden by the initiative of the Swedish queen, Louisa Ulrika of Prussia. La Troupe Du Roi De Suede
La troupe du Roi de Suede, or ''Roi de Suede'' for short, was a French-speaking Swedish court theater, active at the Royal Swedish court from 1699 until 1706. The ''Roi de Suede'' was engaged by Charles XII of Sweden because a French language court theater was regarded to be a compulsory thing in the representational life of a royal court at the time. Its leader was Rosidor fils, and commonly, the company have therefore been referred to as simply "The Rosidor Troupe". The company performed both spoken drama, opera and ballet, and was regarded to have upheld a high quality. The performances were staged at the residences of the royal court, as well as in the Bollhuset in Stockholm. The Great Northern War in 1700 caused financial difficulties for the court theater. Marie-Renée Frossard
Marie-Renée Frossard, née ''Malter'', was a French ballerina with an international career. She was active in Sweden in 1764–76, where she was regarded as one of the stars of the Royal Swedish Ballet. Marie-Renée Frossard was married to her colleague Louis Frossard. She was engaged at the Comédie-Italienne in Paris in 1757, in Vienna in 1759 and in Brussels in 1761–62. From 1764 until 1770, she and her spouse were engaged at the Du Londel Troupe in Sweden, where they were regarded as two of the most noted members. The French theater was dissolved by Gustav III of Sweden in 1771, who wished to establish a native theater, opera and ballet. Louis Frossard
Louis Frossard was an 18th-century French dancer who conducted part of his career in Sweden. A dancer at the Comédie Italienne of Paris in 1757-1758, he stayed in Vienna from 1759 to 1761 and performed particularly in ballets by Charles Bernardy and Gasparo Angiolini. Carlo Uttini
Carlo Uttini (1753-1808), was a Swedish ballet dancer. He was regarded as one of the elite members of the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1773-1804, and was also active as singer of the Royal Swedish Opera (1776–79) and as an actor at the French Theater of Gustav III (1781–92) and at the Royal Dramatic Theatre (1788-1808). Marie Louise Marcadet née ''Baptiste'' (3 December 1758 – 28 February 1804) was a Swedish opera singer and a dramatic stage actress of French origin. She was active in the Royal Swedish Opera as a singer, and in the Royal Dramatic Theatre and the French Theater of Gustav III as an actress.
