The Father (1979 Film)
''The Father'' is a Bangladeshi movie, directed by Kazi Hayat and released in 1979. The movie starred Bulbul Ahmed and Shuchorita. The titular role was played by John Napier Adams, a long-term American expatriate and IT consultant for USAID in Bangladesh. This is one of the few instances of a non-Bangladeshi playing a major role in a domestic film. The film gave rise to two hit songs: "Ami Ki Gaibe Gaan" and "Aye Khuku Aye".His depiction of a foreigner father raising an adopted child with Bangladeshi culture and values was critically acclaimed and still remembered. It is stated in the movie that the story is based on John Napier Adams's own life. He Lip-synced with the song 'Aai Khuku Aai', which got immense popularity among mass audience and is still considered as an iconic song. Kazi Hayat
Kazi Hayat (born 15 February 1947, although in a newspaper Hayat claimed that he was born on 13 April 1948) is a Bangladeshi film director, producer, writer, and actor. Hayat won Bangladesh National Film Awards eight times - Best Story for '' Dayi Ke'' (1987), Best Dialogue and Best Screenplay for Traash (1992), Best Story for '' Chandabaz'' (1993), Best Director and Best Screenplay for '' Desh Premik'' (1994), Best Cinematography for ''Ammajan'' (1999), and Best Director for '' Itihas'' (2002). Bulbul Ahmed
Bulbul Ahmed (born Tabarruk Ahmed; 4 September 1941 – 15 July 2010) was a Bangladeshi actor and director. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor award three times for his roles in the films ''Shimana Periye'' (1977), '' Badhu Biday'' (1978) and ''Shesh Uttar'' (1980). Besides, he was the producer of the film ''Rajlakshmi Srikanta'' (1987) which won the Best Film award. Early life and career Ahmed's father, Khalil Ahmed, was a government employee and an amateur actor. Ahmed started his acting career through stage drama in 1965. Baby Helen (known by her stage name Shuchorita; born 1958) is a Bangladeshi film actress. She won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film '' Hangor Nodi Grenade'' (1997) and Best Supporting Actress for Meghkonna (2018). She has acted in over 100 movies. Background Shuchorita was born in Dhaka, a middle child of the three siblings. Azad Rahman (1 January 1944 - 16 May 2020) was a Bangladeshi composer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director twice and Best Male Playback Singer once for his performance in the films ''Jadur Bashi'' (1977) and '' Chandabaz'' (1993). Md. Khurshid Alam (born 1st August 1946) is a Bangladeshi playback singer.
